Say Yes to Recess is officially in MAINE! Danielle Dalton

We’re thrilled to welcome our newest chapter, led by Danielle. She is not only a passionate advocate, she is an experienced occupational therapist and professor.

Maine does not currently guarantee the daily recess time kids need—and we’re ready to change that.

Our goal: two 30-minute recess periods every school day. More movement. More play. Better outcomes for kids.

Education Week takes a closer look at the decline in recess, the inequities in access to play, and the research showing that recess can improve concentration, classroom behavior, and academic performance.

We’re especially proud to see Say Yes to Recess highlighted—from our growth to 24+ state chapters, to the voices of our Nevada and Massachusetts leaders, to our advocacy in Tennessee, where recess expanded from 15 to 40 minutes daily for elementary students.
