More recess and less unproven, unnecessary technology in schools seems like a great way to move back to an education that focuses on building the whole child, not just test scores.

🏔️ Say YES to RECESS has hit the ground in UTAH!

We’re excited to welcome Say Yes to Recess Utah to our growing nationwide movement! Kirstyn is the perfect RECESS mom for the job! She has always prioritized outdoor time and knows how essential this is to children’s learning and development.

Right now, Utah does not have a statewide law guaranteeing students a minimum amount of daily recess. Utah’s education rules outline required elementary subject areas, but they do not establish a minimum daily recess requirement. (Utah State Board of Education)

That means access to meaningful, unstructured play can look very different from school to school.

SYTR Utah is ready to change that. Our goal: two 30-minute periods of recess every school day—because movement, play, connection, and fresh air aren’t extras. They’re part of a healthy childhood.

🚨 Welcome, Say YES to RECESS Nevada! 👚

We’re excited to welcome Brandi and Megan, leaders of the Washoe Parent Coalition … We have joined this coalition and are proud to stand with all members in the movement to restore balance in the school day!

Nevada has no statewide daily recess law, though legislation proposes at least 20 minutes of outdoor recess for K–5 students. We have a lot of work to do!

Together, we’ll make daily recess a reality for Nevada kids.
