Julie Elisabeth 1/13/1986 -5/29/2024. One of ours! An unnecessary death! A victim of domestic abuse! A death that never received a real investigation! She was someone’s daughter, mother, sister, friend, and more! Her life mattered! You deserved so much better than what you received from the investigation into your death! You deserved justice! Every death should be fully investigated - not decided in a matter of few minutes - ESPECIALLY when there was a history of abuse and domestic calls - and outstanding assault charges!! The Windsong Foundation will continue to say your name and fight for you! JULIE ELISABETH your life mattered and we love you!

The Windsong Foundation hotline rings on a separate number on my phone. I answer the calls. I am a lifeline to abused women. Sometimes the intervention works - sometimes it doesn’t!

Sometimes I wake up crippled by my past trauma. Even now! Even 12 years later. Like EVERY woman we assist - it is the lack of understanding! The desire for those we love to understand and feel empathy for what we went through or are going through. It can stop us in our tracks! The pain in our hearts is so severe and heartbreaking.

This is why we lean on God and each other! Because it may be that the ones we loved and gave our whole lives to protect may never understand the magnitude of what that meant. They may not understand the magnitude of what that still means in daily survival. They may not understand how that contributes to our past and current flaws. The ones we are so harshly judged on.

The fact that the manipulator and abuser seems to always get a pass from those we love is so very hard. It is sometimes more than you can comprehend. It sometimes feels like they get 100% more grace than the abused.

I always return to a passage from a wise Pastor but it is not easy. Maybe it will help you too: Psalms 37:1-9

To all my Windsong women - may you thrive today and not be crippled by the past and the pain! I understand you! - Tammy, Founder & President - The Windsong Foundation 💜

For the mothers that are spending this day without their children because of any situation - abuse, addiction, death, parent alienation, manipulation, necessary boundaries - whatever the situation is. It is okay to cry, to not have it all together, to stay in bed and wait for this day to pass. Tomorrow is another day and you can pick up your broken heart and keep moving forward. God knows the plans He has for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

A very wise Pastor reminded me recently that my joy should always come from my relationship with the Lord. His promises are all spelled out in the Bible. This is where healing and joy are found!

May God keep you and hold each and every mother today that is hurting!

💜 Virginia is talking about domestic violence - and it’s time we act. 💜
Recent awareness across our state is shining a light on something many have suffered through in silence for far too long. Domestic violence is not distant. It is here — in our communities, in our neighborhoods, and sometimes behind doors we pass every single day.
At The Windsong Foundation, we are more than a name — we are a local voice for survivors. We are here to provide hope, support, and advocacy for those navigating some of the hardest moments of their lives.
✨ Every conversation matters.
✨ Every survivor matters.
✨ Every act of support makes a difference.
If you’ve been looking for a way to help — this is it.
