Post 289 American Legion Amateur Radio Club is hosting the "Jamboree on the Air Nette". This is so youth can learn about amateur radio such as ham radio you miss Morse code, internet, digital means of communication. Beverly McLaughlin, niece Maddie, and Nancy Hartford from Post 289 Auxiliary attend attend a meeting with Girls State volunteers.

The American Legion Auxiliary Post 289 showed their spirit by wearing their "red, white and blue"! In doing so, we got a patch to commemorate our spirit! Congratulations!

American Legion CSM Gary W Crisp Post 289 and its 3 families are invited on September 19th at 4 pm. This event will be held at Mike and Claire O'Rourke's home! As the flyer mentions, ribs, burgers and hot dogs will be provided. All invited are asked to provide a side dish of your choice. Please contact Claire O'Rourke to let her know how many will attend and what side dish you will bring. Please also bring your chairs. You can call or text me at your convenience. We need to know how much meat products to purchase. We look forward to seeing as many as possible. Service dogs are welcome.

Please join us for a fundraiser at Applebee's on Wilma Rudolph Blvd! The American Legion Post 289 is holding a fundraiser on Monday, September 7th. You can order any food items from their entire menu all day. Please show this page, or mention the fundraiser to your server. This enables the American Legion to continue helping Veterans and current service members in our community. Thanks for your support!

On Friday July 23rd, Stewart Sykes of Sykes Funeral Home took a bus load of members of the American Legion families Post 289 to "Medal of Honor" Heritage Center in Chattanooga, TN. Members of the Legion, Auxiliary, Sons and Riders were treated to lunch and a guided tour of the Center!
The first "Medal of Honor" recipient is Jacob Parrot from Kenton, OH. He had served in the Civil War. It was a great experience for all! Thank you Stewart Sykes of Sykes Funeral Home & Crematory!
