☔️ The rain is a total BUMMER! ☔️

We unfortunately had to make the decision to reschedule the first annual Trails & Tails event! But don’t fret a new date has been determined. Those that have already signed up will still get their shirts and our vendors will still be attending… who knows we might even be able to add a few more!

Join us for Trails & Tails – a fun, family-friendly 2K event hosted by Harrison County Animal Control in partnership with Harrison County Parks & Recreation!

This is a great chance to get out, enjoy the trails, and support your local animal control and parks and recreation while spending time with your pups and community! 🐕💛

🐶 Dogs attending must be dog friendly and current on vaccines, no exceptions.

Trail alert:
If you are on the Harrison North Rail-Trail starting in North View; there is a fairly large sink hole close to the shelter. It could be very hazardous if you are not aware it is there.
I have reported it to the Harrison Recreational Trails and they alerted the County for help.

🏅5K Course Description: This is a chip timed out and back course starting at the Freedom Shelter, running to a turnaround on the Harrison County Rail Trail, then back the way you came. Start and Finish are the same spot. This course will be well marked and have plenty of volunteers to help guide you along the way.

⭐️ Kid’s Race Description: We will be offering a kids race near the start/finish line immediately following the 5K. This will be a short sprint for children 8 and under.

🏆 AWARDS:  Top 3 overall male and female trophies; age group trophies for 1st place, and custom genuine leather patches for 2nd and 3rd place for both male and female.

Join us Tuesdays at 5:30 PM beginning March 24 at the Bill Foster Memorial Shelter at the VA Rail Trail Head for networking, fresh air, and fun!

Bring a coworker, your partner, a friend — even your leashed four legged walking buddy — and let’s build a stronger, healthier community together.

We’ll be tracking our step counts and competing with neighboring counties, so every step counts!

Plus, we’ll be running a social media campaign — message us your weekly step totals and cheer each other on as we move more this spring. Let’s lace up, show up, and step up for our community.

We used to host 'Winter Wonderland Walks" over the weekend on our rail-trails.
Is there an interest in these again?
