Snow and Ice Magick ❄️
First and foremost we are dealing with the element of water, transformed. Water is feminine in nature and associated with the emotions, intuition, and healing.
Snow collected can be used for gentle purification, transformation, and to bring peace and harmony.
Leave out a cup or jar to collect it, bring it in and place it on your altar to melt or add a couple handlefulls of snow to your bath water for a ritual bath. The snow water can also be mixed with herbs for a floor wash.
Snowmen ⛄️ are the winter equivalent of poppets. Write down whatever (or whoever) you want to melt away from your life and place the petition in the snowman. Trust as the sun melts the snowman in the following days, so too will whatever intentions you placed within it.
Conversely the snowmen can also be used for guardianship. Very similar to how witches view scarecrows in the autumn.
Draw sigils and runes in the snow, and as it melts so to will it manifest. Bury your petitions in the snow to ‘cool off’ a situation. Alternatively, place your petitions in water before it freezes, to ‘pause’ a situation. (Carry the vessel inside and place it in your freezer to keep it frozen)
Icicles in particular can be used to pinpoint certain intentions into the snowman. Think of a poppet with pins sticking in it.
Ice by itself embodies the characteristics of stillness, stasis, pause, concentration, and self defense.
Form follows function with the icicle - a sharp tapering piece of ice. The aforementioned characteristics can be directed with an icicle. (Think of an athame in a way)
The icicles can also be laid out with other crystals, namely snowflake obsidian in a crystal grid for manifestation.
Incorporate the sacred geometry of the snowflake ❄️ into your practice. Most snowflakes are hexagons. The hexagon is found all throughout nature, from honeycombs to the eyes of insects. A hexagon is a right side up (masculine) triangle and an inverted (feminine) triangle combined in perfect union. Hexagons represent balance and harmony between the physical and spiritual realms .. just as the snowflake falls from above(spiritual) down to earth (physical).
