A huge THANK YOU to our local Girl Scout troops and their leader, Dee Smith, for their incredible work making 37 blankets for Binky Patrol! Pictured are members of Brownie Troop 50521, Junior Troop 50045, and Cadette/Senior Troop 50092.

These blankets will not only be donated locally, but some will be sent to Roland Police Department in Roland, OK to keep on hand for children ages 0-8 for emergency calls and to comfort the kids affected or scooped up. They will also be sent to Care of Candi/ROWW in Mississippi, where they are facing significant, urgent needs primarily due to a devastating outbreak of tornadoes and severe weather that struck central and southern parts of the state in the beginning of May.

Your thoughtfulnees is greatly appreciated!

Good evening! I am looking for a few volunteers (maybe 6-8) to help me for a few hours possibly on May 23rd (just need to check with the church that the room is available). I'm receiving approximately 35 blankets this coming week from a local youth group. I will need help making sure all the knots are tied tightly, and are even, and help with sewing the labels on. I also still have some other blankets at my home without labels.

I'm planning on sending about 20-30 blankets by the end of the May, so I just need some help making sure they are ready! Please comment, or email me at [email protected] if you are able to help that day. Thank you so much!

Well, my very first Bink-a-Thon is complete, and I literally could not be more grateful for the outpouring of support. My heart is full!

Over 40 volunteers dedicated part of their Saturday to help make blankets for children and teens in crisis. Today, we created 82 blankets in 4 hours (yes, 82!!!). What started as me looking into a volunteer opportunity turned into creating a local chapter of the Binky Patrol. Then, something amazing happened, and it's entirely because of the generosity, time, and willingness of the community to show up and volunteer their time and skills.

When I decided to start this local chapter, I realized it was way out of my comfort zone, but I'm so happy I gave it a go. I sent out letters to businesses asking for donations. A huge thank you to Highland Associates, Rosario's Pizzaria, Whitbeck Insurance Agency, Citizen's Savings Bank, and Walmart in Taylor for their generous donations. Thank you to the Anna Van Auken Memorial. Thank you to my friends and family that donated time and/or money to help make this event a success.

To those who donated completed blankets, I thank you for taking the time to create a comfort item for those in need.
To those who donated fleece and fabric, or let me borrow equipment for the event, thank you for your generosity. I promise to return the borrowed items promptly.
To those who came out to tie, cut, iron, sew, and organize, I thank you for giving your time and energy so selflessly.
To those who helped set up and clean up, please know you helped make everything run smoothly, and I am so grateful.
To Trinity Lutheran Church, thank you for the use of your recreation room. It was the perfect space for this event!

These blankets will go to the WRC (formerly the Women’s Resource Center), Friends of the Poor/Catherine McAuley Center, and beyond. The binkies (blankets) are distributed to babies, children, and teens (ages 0-18). Knowing that they will bring comfort to children and individuals facing difficult circumstances is what makes this so meaningful.

You helped create something more than just blankets. You helped create a reminder to someone that they are not alone and that they matter.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being part of something so special. I truly could not have done this without any of you.

There will be another Bink-a-Thon this year, most likely in October, so stay tuned. If you are not already on my email list, send me a message and I will be happy to add you so you can be informed of upcoming events.

To the Keystone College football players and assistant coach that came out to help and learn a new skill, they killed it! It was a pleasure having them.

I've loved meeting all of you, and wish I had more time to sit and talk with you all. I'm looking to do some smaller meet-ups in the summer, and I'll be in touch.

Good morning! I’m so excited that my very first Bink-a-Thon blanket-making event is coming up this Saturday!

Saturday, April 25th from 12–4 PM
📍 Trinity Lutheran Church, Clarks Summit

We’ll be making fleece tie blankets and quilts for children in our area who are experiencing crisis situations. All blankets created will be donated to the WRC (formerly the Women’s Resource Center) and Friends of the Poor/Catherine McAuley Center, to be distributed to babies, children, and teens in need.

No experience is needed. If you can use a pair of scissors or tie a knot, you can help make a difference!

If you’d like to volunteer and haven’t already contacted me, please email me at [email protected].

‼️ This is also a great opportunity for anyone in need of service hours - Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, college students, and more!
