We want to wish a very special foster the happiest birthday!! We are so incredibly lucky to have Theresa Ayers as part of our medical foster team! 🐾 WHY FOSTER WITH SACRED PAWZ? 🐾

People often tell us, “I could never foster. I’d get too attached.”

And we understand. You probably will get attached.

You’ll celebrate the little wins. You’ll fall in love with them. You may cry when they leave.

But you’ll also get to watch a scared dog learn that hands can be gentle.
You’ll watch a neglected dog become healthy again.
You’ll see a puppy learn how to live in a home.
And eventually, you’ll watch a dog you helped save walk into the arms of the family they were always meant to find. ❤️

One of our longtime fosters, Jacoba Kemper, shared what fostering has meant to her:

“Fostering with Sacred Pawz has been the BEST and occasionally most DIFFICULT job I have ever had. It has also been the most FULFILLING work I have ever done!

We’ve had the pleasure of fostering 21 dogs in 4ish years fostering with Sacred Pawz. Puppies, adult dogs, abused or neglected dogs, and even suspected bait dogs. Every single one has found their furever home!

I have wanted to keep every single pup we have fostered. The hardest part of fostering is helping to make them whole and then letting them go to the best family they could ask for. I just keep reminding myself if we keep a foster we can’t continue to foster. It’s HARD not to keep them all!

Meet Billy! 🐾

Billy’s journey started in Fresno, California, where he was found as a stray. After multiple attempts were made to locate his owners, he was eventually surrendered to the humane society and made available for rescue. Sacred Pawz had been keeping an eye on this sweet boy, and when Billy was placed on the red list due to lack of shelter space, we knew we had to step in.

Billy is now safely in foster and absolutely thriving! He currently lives with two other dogs who he LOVES to play with, and when he isn’t romping around with his foster siblings, you can usually find him right beside his people.

Billy is incredibly affectionate and definitely has a little Velcro-dog energy. He loves following his foster mama around the yard, especially when she’s gardening, where he takes his role as her official assistant very seriously. 🌱

He appears to be potty trained, is a great listener, and is eager to please. Billy is still a young guy, so he’s continuing to work on his basic commands and manners, but he is sweet, loving, playful, and ready to learn.

And can we please talk about those ears?! Billy has ears for DAYS. 😂

This handsome boy survived the shelter and made it all the way from California to his foster home. Now he just needs the final piece of his story: a family of his own.

"I have been fostering for 3 years now and I honestly couldn't see my life without it anymore.
I've always had a BIG heart for animals, specifically dogs. At first, I was intimidated by bringing a rescue dog into my home with my family dogs, but it was nothing like I expected! After the initial meet-and-greet and setting up a private, safe space for them to settle in, it became like temporary playdates for my pups.
Some fosters stay for a week, others for a few months while waiting for their forever home. Don't get me wrong—watching them move on can tug at your heart. But my husband always reminds me: 'If you want to save them all, you can't keep them all.'
