Resident Advocate
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop a working knowledge of all Safenet Services programs: Shelter, Crisis Line, Parenting Classes, Counseling, Sexual Assault and Victim Advocacy, Empowerment Program, CHANGES Program, Supervised Visitation and Exchanges, Protective Order Office, and Resale Operations.
Respond to incoming Crisis Line calls from the Shelter and Resource Connect via internet, documenting each call in the Crisis Call Log and completing the Crisis Screening and Lethality Assessment as appropriate.
Conduct new resident intakes, completing all necessary intake documentation and orienting residents to shelter guidelines and resources.
Provide empathetic listening and emotional support to residents, referring individuals to the Victims Counselor or appropriate Safenet staff for additional services.
Stay informed of individual resident Goal Plans to provide encouragement, appropriate resources based on goal plans, and support as they work toward personal milestones.
Document resident interactions, needs, and progress through appropriate Service Notes and communicate updates to the Shelter Director.
Assist in coordinating daily shelter operations, including meal planning and management of household chores in collaboration with residents.
Promote and help maintain a peaceful, respectful, and secure shelter environment for all clients.
Contribute to the overall cleanliness and organization of shelter facilities to ensure a welcoming space for residents, modeling positive behavior and team collaboration.
Participate in agency meetings, training, workshops, and conferences as directed by leadership to support ongoing development and best practices.
Notify the Shelter Director of any concerns, complaints, or suggestions related to shelter operations or resident needs.
Provide Transportation as needed by residents and their children
Have a working knowledge of community partnerships and resources for residents
Participating in ensuring that the Crisis Line, Resource Connect, and the shelter are staffed 24/7
Provide Trauma informed compassionate care and communication to residents and their children.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to work independently
Excellent communication skills
Ability to remain calm and think critically
Ability to be flexible for shift coverage, transportation needs, and emergency situations
Sensitivity to the challenges of battered adults and children
Receptive to training
Technologically inclined
Valid driver's license
