News Release – 6/3/26
*Tuscarawas County Health Department Will Host Free Car Seat Check Event on Monday, June 15*

NEW PHILADELPHIA, OHIO – The Tuscarawas County Health Department (TCHD) is partnering with the New Philadelphia City Health Department, and New Philadelphia Fire Department to host a free Car Seat Check Event on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Walmart parking lot located at 231 Bluebell Drive SW, New Philadelphia.

Motor vehicle crashes remain a leading cause of injury for children, and proper car seat use is one of the most effective ways to keep children safe while traveling. During this free event, certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be available to inspect car seats, verify proper installation, and provide hands-on education to help families ensure their children are riding safely.

"Car seats save lives, but only when they are used correctly," said Abbie Shankland, Child Injury Prevention Coordinator at TCHD. "This event gives parents and caregivers the opportunity to have their car seats checked by certified technicians and leave with confidence knowing their children are as safe as possible while riding in a vehicle."

No appointment is necessary. Families are encouraged to bring their child and vehicle so technicians can ensure the car seat fits both properly.

For more information about the Car Seat Check Event or child passenger safety programs, contact the Tuscarawas County Health Department at 330-343-5555 ext. 1530 or [email protected].

Day 2 of the PACH 2026 Conference brought the energy and the action! 💥

From breakout sessions to meaningful conversations, today was all about strengthening community care and building sustainable systems that truly support CHWs and the communities we serve.

Guided by the three core drivers of the conference, we leaned into:
✨ Building Power Together – fostering collaboration and lifting community voices
✨ Shaping the Workforce – investing in CHWs and strengthening the future of care
✨ Advocacy in Motion – turning ideas into action to create lasting change

We explored everything from stroke prevention tools and legal partnerships to mental wellness support and innovative care models. The keynote inspired us, the networking connected us, and the closing reflections reminded us why this work matters so deeply.

Grateful to be in a space with so many passionate leaders committed to making a difference. Let’s keep the momentum going! 💙

Day 1 at the PACH 2026 Conference in Westerville was an incredible start!

HUB staff and Community Health Workers came together from Tuscarawas Senior Center, Mediwise Pharmacy, Zanesville Muskingum Health Department, and Buckeye Hills—bringing passion, knowledge, and a shared commitment to strengthening our communities.

From powerful discussions on CHW reimbursement and care coordination to meaningful breakout sessions and networking, today was all about learning, collaboration, and moving the work forward.

There’s something special about being in a room full of people who are dedicated to making a difference every single day. Looking forward to what tomorrow brings!
