Today I had a wonderful time with the group in memory care over at Hyde Park Community.

This is the space I’m drawn to the most in my Soul Music for Seniors work. There is something deeply sacred about these moments. In memory care, I get a chance to witness something bigger than performance. I get to see God unfold right in front of my face through song.

A lyric can open a door. A melody can reconnect someone with themselves. A rhythm can reach places words no longer can.

That kind of connection humbles me every single time.

I’m grateful for every smile, every glance, every hand tap, every voice that rises up out of nowhere to sing along. These moments remind me that music is more than entertainment. It is connection. It is presence. It is memory. It is love moving through the room.

I am so thankful for the opportunity to serve in this way.

Yesterday was a beautiful reminder of what this work is all about.

I had the joy of spending time in the park with one of our senior recording artists, Vincent Prince, as we worked on pre-production for his second song with us. What unfolded was more than a music session. It was a meaningful time of connection, friendship, creativity, and shared purpose.

These moments matter.

Through Soul Music for Seniors, I’m always grateful for opportunities to create space where older adults can keep expressing themselves, keep creating, and keep sharing their voice through music.

It was a beautiful day, a beautiful conversation, and a beautiful step forward in Vincent’s musical journey.

Yesterday I had the honor of playing for a beautiful group of seniors in Delhi.

These moments always remind me why Soul Music for Seniors matters.

Music has a way of slowing things down. It helps people settle into the moment, remember, smile, sing, reflect, and connect. In senior living communities, those moments matter deeply. A song can open the door to conversation, comfort, laughter, and joy in ways that are simple, human, and real.

I was also grateful to have a special guest with me, Greg Stoecklin, one of our Senior Music Ambassadors. Greg sang a beautiful original song I wrote for him, which he released earlier this year. It was a meaningful moment and a reminder that music continues to give people a voice, a story, and a way to share something real.

At Soul Music for Seniors, that is the heart of the work. We show up to help create meaningful moments of presence, connection, and joy through music while doing our small part to push back against social isolation.

Grateful for the community, the music, and the chance to keep doing this work.

After 50 years, she picked up her guitar again.

The chords didn’t come easily at first.
Her fingers were slower.
The muscle memory felt distant.

But something deeper remembered.

Within weeks, she was playing again —
“Eleanor Rigby.”
“Take It Easy.”
“Leaving on a Jet Plane.”

Music was still there.
Waiting.

We see this every time we sit at the piano in a senior living community.

A resident who hasn’t sung in years suddenly joins in.
A gentleman quietly taps the rhythm on his walker.
A woman closes her eyes and softly mouths every word to a song from her youth.

The music is still there.
In their fingers.
In their voices.
In their stories.

Sometimes it just needs to be invited back into the room.

That’s why we do what we do.

Not just to perform.
But to reconnect old friends — melodies, memories, and moments of pride.

Because after half a century…
the song can still come back.

🎹 Connection you can hear.

On cold days like this, getting in and out of our senior communities isn’t easy.

The sidewalks are slick.
The air stings your face.
Coats get zipped a little tighter.
Wheelchairs roll slower.
Walkers move more carefully.

It’s tough on the residents.
And honestly… it’s tough on us too.

But something special happens once we get inside.

Once the doors close behind us,
once the piano is set up,
once the first song begins…

The room starts to warm.

Not from the heat in the building —
but from the music.

The cold gets replaced with smiles.
Hands start tapping.
Feet begin to sway.
Memories wake up.
Laughter sneaks in.

The music becomes a warm fire in the middle of the room —
and everyone gathers around it.

For a little while,
the winter disappears.
The struggle of the walk in fades away.
And what’s left is connection, comfort, and joy.

This is why we show up —
even when it’s cold,
even when it’s hard.

Because once the music starts,
we’re all warmed from the inside out.

February has a quiet way of inviting us to slow down.

The days are shorter. The world feels a little softer. It becomes a good time to enjoy warm music, remember meaningful moments, and stay close to the people and things that bring comfort.

This season reminds us of the value of connection… of familiar songs… and of taking time to reflect on what still matters most.

Even in quieter months, there is still beauty to be found. There is still laughter to share. There is still music to enjoy together.

We hope this brings a small moment of warmth to your day.

Thank you for being part of the Soul Music for Seniors community. 💛
