The NeighborHub Health Dental Van returns! Need dental work done? The van offers free dental services to people who are: currently homeless, living with multiple families in your household, couch surfing, or at risk of homelessness. When you arrive, you do not need to verify this information, but you will need to mark your qualifying reason on your paperwork.

To sign up for an appointment on September 22nd, text (513) 549-4262. Walk-ins will be seen if there are cancellations or available spots.

Looking for a meaningful way to give back without a huge time commitment?

We're seeking volunteers to provide child care support every other Wednesday evening during ESL classes at Annette's House.

While parents focus on improving their English skills, volunteers supervise children in a nearby room, helping create a fun, safe environment through play and activities. No Spanish language skills are required. Since the time is largely unstructured play, volunteers find that communication barriers are rarely a challenge.

Why does this matter? When parents know their children are safe and cared for, they're able to fully engage in class, practice their English, and build skills that strengthen their families and futures.

This biweekly opportunity is perfect for professionals who work during the day but are looking for a manageable way to make a real difference in their community.

Another beneficial outcome is fostering connections, which helps to create a sense of community and belonging.

Seeing these connections strengthened within our Monday volunteer group has been rewarding to witness.

The Summer Squeeze campaign has been an opportunity to educate our community about the work CAIN does beyond The Market.

Did you know roughly 45% of CAIN's Market shoppers speak Spanish?

We do our best to ensure that all of our neighbors can access the support they need in a low-barrier, dignified environment. That's why we intentionally recruit Spanish-speaking staff, volunteers, and members of our Board of Directors.

Because recognizing a barrier is only the first step. Real change happens when people have a voice in the room.

One of the most common barriers our Spanish-speaking neighbors face is language. That's why CAIN offers English as a Second Language (ESL) classes through Annette's House. These classes help adult learners build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and create new opportunities for connection and engagement.

As part of the Summer Squeeze, we're raising $650 for updated ESL textbooks and curriculum materials. This one-time purchase will provide students with a comprehensive, structured learning experience using current lessons and resources, rather than relying primarily on free materials that can create a more limited classroom experience.

When we invest in learning, we invest in a stronger community where more voices can be heard.

Repair Fair this past weekend was a huge success!

Together we were able to keep 218lbs of material out of the landfil by either repairing 35 of the 42 items brought in and ensuring the rest were recycled through the ReUse Hub.

This event was made possible by our enthusiastic and talented volunteers as well as the dedicated members of the Poverty Liberation Collective (PLC). Thank you to everyone who helped make the day a success!

From small appliances to clothing, bikes, and more, our volunteer repair coaches will help your repair, reuse, and learn along the way. Bring your broken items, meet skilled volunteers and enjoy a free community meal with vegan options.

Repairs Offered:
Sewing and mending
Electronics (software & hardware)
Mobility device repair (non-electric/non-hydraulic)
Bike repair
Tool and Knife sharpening
Small appliance repair

It's hard to think of $1 going very far these days.

But at CAIN, $1 can provide up to 10 meals for our neighbors.

Through partnerships, bulk purchasing, and community relationships, we're able to stretch every dollar further than most of us could on our own. That purchasing power helps us maximize resources and get more food to more neighbors.

We had a great time hosting Trish and Jose from the nonprofit Ripken's Journey yesterday morning! Their crew came all the way from Texas for a baseball tournament and offered to help us spruce up our community hub space with some paint accents. Their mission to foster a spirit of service and community aligns with ours as well.
