John Jeffrey Eley is scheduled to be executed July 26, 2012 for his role in the murder of Ahsan Aydah in 1986. In a 5 to 3 split decision issued on June 20, 2012, the Ohio Parole Board rejected clemency for Mr. Eley .

Ohio is preparing to execute Abdul Awkal on June 6 despite a long history of mental illness, hallucinations, and grandiose delusions.

Please call Governor Kasich’s office at 614-466-3555 and urge him to commute the sentence of Mr. Awkal to life without parole. The governor could make his decision Tuesday afternoon. We Ohioans recognize we should not execute our citizens who suffer from debilitating mental illness.
