Some of the darkest versions of me were born from survival.

Not because I was evil.
Not because I was crazy.
Not because I wanted war.

But because being hurt over and over eventually teaches you how to stop bleeding in front of people who handed you the knife.

This piece came out of IOP during conversations about radical acceptance, boundaries, anger, and self-respect. And honestly? At the time, I thought healing meant becoming softer.

What I learned instead is that healing sometimes looks like finally saying:
“No more.”

No more shrinking myself to make other people comfortable.
No more accepting disrespect in the name of love.
No more abandoning myself to keep the peace.
No more apologizing for surviving.

The fire in this image was never about destruction.
It was transformation.

Because sometimes you have to burn down the version of yourself that believed you deserved mistreatment just to become the person who finally walks away from it.

And maybe that makes me “too much” for some people now.
Good.

I was never meant to stay small. 🔥

There was a season of my life where everything felt broken at once.
The car.
The relationships.
My stability.
My mind.

But what I learned in IOP is that just because life feels like a storm doesn’t mean you stop moving forward.

Sometimes healing looks like standing in the mud with shaking hands… while still holding the keys to your future.

This picture wasn’t just art.
It was a mirror.

The storm represented survival mode.
The rainbow represented hope.
The house represented stability.
And the keys?
The reminder that nobody was coming to save me — I had to learn how to save myself.

That group taught me distress tolerance.
How to STOP before reacting.
How to breathe through chaos instead of becoming it.
How to rebuild instead of self-destruct.

And honestly?
That lesson changed my life. 🌈⚡🗝️

Urban Wellness and Recovery Circle was never supposed to be just another page. 🖤

This is a movement built by people who have actually lived through it.
Addiction. Mental health. Trauma. Survival mode. Starting over.

And somehow… still choosing to heal anyway.

We’re building community events, peer-led support, DBT skill workshops, recovery resources, volunteer opportunities, and safe spaces where people can finally feel seen.

If you’ve been watching us grow from the beginning — thank you.
If you’re new here — welcome home. 🫶

The Spring Into Summer Food Truck Rally is only the beginning. 🌞
