At the Fall meeting the Federated Garden Clubs of Cincinnati asks member clubs to make and enter new ornaments to add to the Storybook Tree that Federated decorates at the main library downtown for the December holidays. All of the ornaments are based on a children's book. Out of 7 entries this year, HSGC member Terry Lemmerman's Gruffalo was awarded third place for creativity and skill. Thank you to Terry! And if you go to the main library in December look for the tree in the main building near the outdoor reading area.

The HSGC September program was “Thyme to Read with the Herb Society Book Club”. The members of the book club gave interesting summaries of the monthly books they have discussed this year. Thanks to these members for such an informative and educational program,

Many thanks to our wonderful president, Laurie Arnold Gorby, for entering two of the club invitationals for Herb Society, as well as entering her own designs and then judging! The theme for this year's show was "America 250" so there was a lot of red, white and blue! This mass design (on the left) fit the theme but didn't over do the RWB, very nice!
