Amazing progress at Aiken High School School-Based Community Garden! The walls of the Shuman Urban Wilderness Center are up, and solar panels are going in, helping make the new Center a more sustainable and eco-friendly space. 🌱☀️

We can’t wait to celebrate the grand opening on Friday, November 6! Stop by the open house to see the new space and learn more about what’s ahead.

There is a little over a month till the Shuman Urban Wilderness Center open house!

The center’s sustainable infrastructure includes solar energy, rainwater collection, composting, geothermal temperature regulation, and natural wood materials.

Urban Wilderness is collaborating with BHDP Architects and Messer Construction specifically for their sustainable design and construction expertise, and have budgeted conservatively for operational costs during the first year of occupancy. The center’s off-grid characteristics will reduce utility costs, reduce emissions, and encourage self-sufficiency.

Introducing Urban Wilderness Minneapolis team member, Erin Grossman!

Erin just finished her first summer at Ogichi Daa Kwe ( Ogichi Daa Kwe | Summer Camp for Girls ) where she taught song writing. She had a great time up north in the boundary waters and is now looking forward to building with Urban Wilderness!

The Shuman Urban Wilderness Center is having an open house November 6th from 3:30pm - 7:30pm at Aiken High School. Come enjoy drinks and appetizers with our team-members!

The building is coming along nicely, and we are excited to share the completed project with our community soon!

Minneapolis’s Urban Wilderness team just finished new staff training and their first build of the season with Annunciation Catholic School!

The upcoming fall builds include St. Mary’s, Immaculate Conception, Marquette, St. Joseph’s, Holy Redeemer, St. Helena’s, Holy Family, and St. Edward’s.

Lets extend a warm welcome to the new Urban Wilderness team members! They have a wonderfully full fall to look forward to!
