π¨π¨TW: Wounded animal,neglect, loss.π¨π¨
Not all stories have happy endings and sometimes we have difficult decisions to make.
Rescue work is hard, its gut wrenching, and it makes you question a lot of things.
This sweet baby came to us from someone who took him in under the pretense that he had a minor burn.
She had already made a vet appointment and thought it would be no big deal.
Unfortunately the leopard gecko came in much worse off.
What you're looking at here is layers and layers of stuck shed, vitamin a deficiency, mbd, rubber jaw, severe burns that went untreated for weeks, a collapsed lung, possible sepsis, and yellow fungal due to the bacteria just sitting trapped.
To say this gecko was suffering is a severe understatement.
We made the tough call to stop his suffering.
We don't judge when people surrender animals to us as that's not our place, or our job.
What we do ask however is that you please do your research before you get any pet, if you ever have questions reach out, and if you cannot properly care for your animal for one reason or another please do the right thing and surrender them to someone or a facility that can.
I know its hard to make that decision, I know it can make you feel ashamed etc, but we are responsible for our pets and their care and sometimes that means doing whats hard to do whats right by them.
Thank you all as always for your continued support. ππ¦
