With Tax Day just behind us, the paperwork is filed and the deadline pressure is gone. But it is a natural moment to step back and consider whether your financial planning is actually doing what you want it to do. Tools like charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts let you support causes you care about while generating income and meaningful tax advantages.

The Choteau Lions Club Foundation exists to strengthen our community for the long haul. A planned gift is one of the most direct ways to invest in that mission beyond your own lifetime, ensuring that the work Lions do in Choteau and across the region continues to grow. Interested in learning more about planned giving? Send a message to our page, and we can help you get started.

If someone in your community decided today that they wanted to become a Lion, would they know how? This article challenges clubs to examine both their digital footprint and their analog presence. From websites and social media to local newspapers, signage, and everyday conversations, true engagement requires visibility in both spaces. Is your club easy to find, or simply easy to join if someone already knows a member?

On January 13, we mark the birthday of Melvin Jones, the founder of Lions Clubs International.

In 1917, Jones challenged business leaders to look beyond personal success and commit themselves to service in their communities. That idea became Lions Clubs International, now a global network of volunteers dedicated to humanitarian service.

As Lions, this day is a reminder of why we serve: to meet real needs, strengthen our communities, and lead with integrity and compassion. The projects we support locally and the causes we champion worldwide all trace back to that original call to service.

Today, we honor Melvin Jones not just for founding an organization, but for setting a standard of service that continues to guide our work.
