Along with a few other philosophical and scientific thinkers, Edgar Morin stands as the leading figure of the "complexity approach."
He embodies a mode of thought characterized by doubt and transversal inquiry.
This means that, in analyzing a given subject, he integrates insights from numerous research disciplines.
It is for this reason that this intellectual current is known as the "complexity approach."
This stands in stark contrast to the teachings dispensed by gurus—and even further removed from the prescriptive "recipes for life" in which certainty often prevails, offering up ready-made rules based on reductionist approaches.

Furthermore, you may visit the website “migliofoundation.org” to read the text of my presentation delivered at a conference at Sonoma State University in California—an event organized by the "Complex Systems Society" that focused on the subject of “Democracy”
—as well as an essay published by Cambridge University Press in conjunction with a conference exploring the theme of science and myths.
In that essay, I advance the hypothesis that the evolution of folktales and myths can be explained through the "Theory of Added Value"—a line of inquiry I could not have pursued had I not embraced to the transversal, horizontal approach championed by Edgar Morin.
