Enrichment isn’t just for active young pups—it’s an essential part of senior dog care! Keeping aging minds sharp and bodies gently active makes a world of difference in a dog’s overall quality of life.

At our sanctuary, every single resident receives at least one dedicated enrichment activity every day. Here’s why daily enrichment is a game-changer:

✨ Satisfies natural instincts like sniffing, foraging, and licking

From lick mats and puzzle toys to gentle sniff-walk adventures and long chew sessions, enrichment comes in all shapes and sizes! 🐶 Licking and sniffing actually release endorphins that help soothe and calm senior dogs.

When Dr. Jamie founded The Gray Muzzle Project, it wasn't just about starting a rescue—it was about filling a critical gap in senior animal welfare.

Hi, I’m Noodles! Welcome to my kitchen. 👩‍🍳🐾

My mom is totally obsessed with healing through whole foods, so I graciously volunteered to be Chief Taste Tester for our sanctuary residents. I can confirm: this batch was made with extra love! 💕

Want to spoil your own senior pups or rescue pets? These Nutrient-Dense Clean Treats are super easy to make at home:

🥣 Ingredients:
1 lb ground meat
1 egg
👩‍🍳 Instructions:
Mix ingredients together in a large bowl.
Roll into small, bite-sized treat balls and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Bake at 350°F for ~25 minutes (or until slightly crispy on the outside).
Let cool completely before serving to your eager assistant! 🐕
📌 Storage: Keep fresh in the fridge for up to 7 days, or freeze for up to 3 months for a quick snack later!

Behind every senior and special needs pup in our care is a dedicated team passionate about providing forever hospice and compassionate end-of-life care on the Olympic Peninsula. Get to know our Board of Directors!

🐶 Dr. Jamie, DVM, CVA, CVFT, CVTP — Founder, President & Veterinarian
A holistic veterinarian and Ross University graduate with clinical training from the Royal Veterinary College, Dr. Jamie brings years of emergency, general practice, and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) experience to care for displaced senior dogs who fall through the cracks.

🐾 Ken Rogers — Vice President & Treasurer
Bringing operational and financial leadership grounded in a lifetime of service, Ken’s experience ranges from rural healthcare management and paramedic service to leading therapy dog non-profits and running local small businesses.

📜 Susan Novelli — Secretary
With over 40 years of experience across law, government, and business management—including work with NASA and international show tours—Susan brings incredible structure and organizational expertise to our board.

⚖️ Judy Krebs — Board Member
An attorney practicing labor/employment law and a long-time community organizer, Judy is a fierce animal rights advocate who connects the fight for justice across humans, animals, and the environment.

Reflecting on a busy, beautiful September! 🌿✨
We had such an amazing time meeting so many of you at both the Enchanted Realm Faire and our local Farmers Market this past month!
From sharing our hospice mission for senior dogs to meeting local supporters, fellow animal lovers, and a few furry visitors—our hearts are so full. 💛
A special thank you to Julie Dorsch Finnriver and the entire Enchanted Realm Faire team for their months of incredible planning and dedication to bringing such a wonderful event to life!
Building community right here on the Olympic Peninsula is what makes our sanctuary work possible. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, asked questions, grabbed some info, or donated to support our resident pups!

A normal day here is filled with simple joys: wake-up cuddles, eager breakfast routines, coffee with the pack, and introducing our sweet pups to new friends and volunteers. It’s vibrant, quiet, and deeply fulfilling.
