🚨 TODAY IS THE FINAL DAY OF OUR HERO DRIVE! 🚨

What does it actually mean to be a Hero?

It means being a committed voice for the ones who have none left. It means stepping up for vulnerable, senior shelter dogs when their time and options have run out, and giving them a place where they truly belong.

Take Gerald. 💔➡️✨
Before coming to us, Gerald knew nothing but instability. Bounced from rescue to rescue, he was rescued from a hoarding situation with bleeding skin and almost no fur left. He didn't need a shelter, he needed a home to heal.

Today, Gerald is thriving! His true, goofy personality is shining through, but keeping him healthy takes a village. His daily care plan is multifaceted: a strict specialized diet, joint supplements, regular ear cleanings, and frequent medicated baths for his skin.

When you donate on this final day, you aren't just buying food—you are directly funding the medical care that brought Gerald back to life.

We have the facility and the passion, but we can’t take in the next Gerald without you. Your support keeps our sanctuary doors open and our community programs running strong, year-round.

⏳ THIS IS IT! The clock runs out tonight. Help us cross the finish line for our golden oldies!

Thank you for fighting for these sweet souls with us! 🐶❤️

There is something so magical about watching a senior dog realize they are safe, loved, and home. 🥹❤️

Many of our residents come to us from situations where happiness was hard to come by. But when you see that pure, pure joy light up a gray-muzzled face? It makes every single late night, medical treatment, and extra effort worth it. Senior dog smiles really do hit different because every single one is hard-earned. 🐾✨

At The Gray Muzzle Project, we believe every senior rescue dog deserves a cozy retirement filled with endless love and head scratches.

Have a cute pic of your golden oldie smiling big? Show us in the comments! 👇

Curious how to help your aging pet live their best life?? Here a list of things we do as a senior focused dog sanctuary to help our residents age with grace.

🐾Watch them eat - looking for signs of oral pain, nausea, and reflux.

🐾 Weigh them weekly- catch any fluctuations and adapt accordingly.

🐾Watch them move- looking for subtle hesitations that indicate pain may be present.

🐾Full body feel: observing for sensitivity, tension, warmth or coldness on the body, new lumps or bumps, or enlarged lymph nodes.

🐾Provide mental activity: special outings, car rides, food dispensing toys, etc can keep aging brains engaged.

🐾 Let them set the pace- smaller, shorter exercise sessions or sniffaris can keep them moving without overdoing it.

🐾Look at their p**p -assesses digestion and can help guide diet changes.

🐾 Keep them hydrated- High moisture fresh food diets + add ins depending on the season (warm homemade broths for cooler weather, hydrating/cooling liquids such as coconut water and homemade pupscicles on hot days).

🐾 Keep up on hygeine- ear cleanings, foot trims, dental care maintenance can go a long way for cleanliness and comfort.

🐾Watch the drugs- we make intentional choices on vaccines, medications, and parasite prevention based on lifestyle and risk. Consider natural alternatives wherever possible.

🐾 Tell them you love them- these dogs deserve to know and feel love and comfort.

🐾Mindset is everything- quality of life over quantity. Each day is a gift with an old dog.

🚨 ONE WEEK LEFT 🚨
We are in the final days of our Hero Drive. To reach our foundation goal, we urgently need 8 more Heroes to step up!

When you make a recurring monthly commitment to The Gray Muzzle Project, you aren't just sending a donation. You are building the bedrock of stability that allows us to provide uninterrupted hospice care, daily pain management, specialized senior diets, and orthopedic comfort to old dogs who have nowhere else to turn.

Our promise to every sanctuary resident is unconditional: we are in it for them through their very last breath. But we cannot maintain this level of care or open our doors to the next senior dogs who desperately need us without a strong community behind us.

Will you step up to be one of the final 8 Heroes we need to secure this foundation?

If you can't commit monthly right now, please share this post with a fellow senior dog lover. Every share helps us find the foundation our dogs rely on. 🐾💛

I missed you today, but nobody knew... 🌈🐾

Loving senior rescue dogs means giving our hearts completely, knowing that our time with them is a gift. Even though they are no longer running through the sanctuary, sweet Dulce, Darlin, and Amos leave footprints on our souls that never fade. 💛

To everyone in our community who carries a quiet piece of heartbreak for a pet who has crossed over: you are not alone. Grief is simply love with nowhere to go.

Who are you remembering today?

Drop the name of your beloved pet waiting at the Rainbow Bridge in the comments below—we would love to honor them with you and hold space for their memory. 🕊️✨

Proof that old dogs still have the biggest hearts (and the best play styles) 🥹❤️

When people think of senior dog rescue, they often picture quiet naps and slow walks. But if you spend 5 minutes with our residents at The Gray Muzzle Project, you’ll see that aging doesn’t mean the joy stops! Senior dogs still play, still love, and still have so much life left to live when given the chance, proper care, and a safe place to call home.

Every gray muzzle has a story, and every single one deserves a cozy place to feel like a puppy again. 🐾✨

Small Organization. Big Mission. Infinite Love. 💛

Welcome to all our new followers! Whether you’ve been following us for a while or just found us through a local group, here is a quick look at what we do at The Gray Muzzle Project:

🐾 Our Mission: Giving senior, special-needs rescue dogs a safe, loving, and permanent sanctuary home where their medical, physical, and emotional needs are fully met for the rest of their lives.

🤝 How We Help: We work directly with area shelters and rescues to transfer high-medical-needs dogs who are struggling to get adopted, providing a long-term solution for dogs in temporary housing. (Please note: We do not accept direct public owner surrenders.)

🏡 Our Sanctuary: We provide a cozy, low-stress home built specifically for senior dog needs—complete with specialized medical management, soft bedding, tailored diets, and plenty of space to relax and play.

✨ What Makes Us Different:
Veterinary-Led & Integrative Care: Owned and operated by veterinarian Dr. Jamie Walkush, we combine modern medicine with alternative healing like acupuncture and herbal medicines to ensure comprehensive care.
A Forever Safe Haven: We take on the "hard cases" senior pups with chronic conditions, mobility challenges, or trauma and give them the dignified retirement they deserve.
