The purpose of Ranger Corps is to form a close-knit group of people (men AND women) who are not just interested but really enthusiastic about archery, functional period clothing and kit, and learning new survival, wilderness, and crafting skills. They have a deep respect for the Natural World and aspire always to live in harmony with Nature and its rhythms. They strive ever to improve themselves i
n all aspects of Self – mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual – all in blissful Balance. Their roll in the kingdom is often as scouts, but also tacticians, border patrols, engineers (maintaining trails, paths, and bridges), and elite, highly independent strike teams. Their guerrilla style of fighting and favoring of ranged weapons allows them to inflict maximum damage upon enemy forces while sustaining minimal losses to their own. Their impressive wilderness skills allow them to remain in the field for long periods without the aid of supplies or support from the kingdom. In order to achieve our goal of being extremely close-knit, we have made the Ranger Corps a fairly exclusive group. To become a ranger, you must first be sponsored by a full ranger. Your sponsor ranger vouches for you, and is responsible for you. If you are judged unworthy to wear the leaf, it is your sponsor who will have to ask you to leave. If you attend 5 meetings and are well-liked by the rest of the group, you may become apprenticed to your sponsor ranger. Only one apprentice per ranger is allowed at a time. Once you are apprenticed, you may begin your path to the Silver Oak Leaf. Only full rangers become leaf-bearers.
