We were honored to announce at our inaugural dinner that we are partnering with the Emundi Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing medical education and healthcare access in our region.

The Emundi Foundation is working toward the establishment of a medical school in Northern California, with the goal of expanding opportunities and resources for pre-medical students while helping address the healthcare needs of our communities.

We are excited to support this important mission and look forward to future fundraising efforts that will help bring this vision to life. Together, we hope to invest in the next generation of healthcare professionals and create a lasting impact for our community.

Thank you, Dr. Murillo and Dr.Sandhu for joining us at our event!

Thank You for Making Our Inaugural Dinner a Success!

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended, and contributed to our first event as a nonprofit organization. Our inaugural dinner was a wonderful success, and the outstanding turnout exceeded our expectations.

Thank you to all who joined us, shared in our mission, and helped make the evening so special. We are especially appreciative of the generous donations and enthusiasm we received throughout the evening.

Thanks to your support, we raised more than $4,000 during the event. As this was our first fundraiser as a nonprofit organization, we are thoughtfully considering the best way to use these funds to further our mission and maximize their impact. We will share more information once a decision has been made.

This event marks the beginning of an exciting journey, and we are honored to have such dedicated supporters alongside us. We look forward to continuing our work together and making an even greater impact in the months and years ahead.

Thank you for believing in our mission and for helping make our inaugural dinner unforgettable.

With gratitude,

The Board and Team of A Love Letter To Chico

Everyone, meet one of our founding members, Javier Gonzalez!

“Holaa & Hello!
Javier Gonzalez, pleased to meet. I’m honored to be a founding board member of A Love Letter to Chico.

While Chico isn’t my hometown, it quickly became a place that challenged me, supported me, and helped shape the person I am today. I grew up in the border city of Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. This city shares borders with the rural community of Calexico, CA where I went to hs. I then moved to Chico to pursue my education at Chico State, where I earned a degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology. Now I am competing a non-traditional post-bacc route to medical school.

When Dan first shared his vision for A Love Letter to Chico, it immediately clicked. Coming from a rural community myself, I often wished there had been more opportunities to connect with mentors, learn about different career paths, and become involved in the community at an earlier stage of this path. Seeing a project dedicated to creating those opportunities for others made me want to get involved.

I’m excited to help build something meaningful alongside this incredible team and share what this community has given me.”

Hello!☀️ We want to continue with our introductions as our team has been expanding! Everyone, meet Tyler Gagon!

“Hi everyone! My name is Tyler, and I am a founding member of our nonprofit organization! I’m very excited to be part of this amazing group. I’ve always been passionate about service, medicine, and giving back, especially to the community that raised me. That’s one of the things I love most about this group: we’re not only here to support future healthcare professionals, but also to show love, appreciation, and care to the people around us.

I’m looking forward to helping create opportunities, connecting with everyone, and being part of work that truly makes a difference. I’m grateful to be here and excited for what we’ll accomplish together!”

The following member we want to introduce is, Cali Fellows!

“Hi everyone! My name is Cali Fellows and I am a founding board member for A Love Letter to Chico!

I am not originally from Chico but in the past 4 years I have spent here earning my degree I have come to love this town and its people. I have worked at Enloe as a lab assistant for 3 years now and I have been overwhelmed with the support and kindness of the people I work with. I am so happy to have an opportunity to give back to Chico and my new community as it has helped me get to where I am today.

I am graduating from Chico State this May and am planning on applying to Physician Assistant school in June. The opportunities I have been given since moving here have changed my life for the better and are now a part of my story that I will always cherish. I can’t wait to be a part of this organization and help as many people as we can in the experience of becoming integral members of the healthcare community!”

Next up is: David Ratner!

“Hello everyone! My name is David Ratner, and I am the Chief Financial Officer and a founding member of A Love Letter to Chico.

I am a Chico native whose family has deep roots in the area. I have had many amazing opportunities to travel all over this country, yet I have never found a community with the same charm and personality as ours.

The resilience of our community has played a major role in inspiring me to pursue a career in medicine, and it is my goal to return to Chico after my education and give back to the place that has shaped me into who I am today.

I am incredibly excited to be part of A Love Letter to Chico and look forward to all that is ahead!”

Following our introduction, here is Jamie Deas!

“Hi my name is Jamie Deas, and I am the Vice President and a founding member of the nonprofit, “A Love Letter to Chico”.

I was born, raised and spent a majority of my life here in Chico. In the beginning of this year my career took me to New York City to expand my opportunities. In the months following my move, I began to miss and feel grateful for this first community of mine. The one where the most important milestones of my life have been from my first steps as a child to my years spent working as an ER Technician at Enloe Medical Center.

I have seen others work to grow and change Chico over the course of my life. I am now very excited to play a part in continuing to help Chico and give back to this community that means so much to me.”
