Chicago, IL Saturday April 11th Faith leaders, community organizations, families, and residents of the Pilsen community, joined by allies from across Chicago, will gather in unity for the “Love Thy Neighbor” March and Rally to defend immigrant and mixed-status families and uphold the dignity of all people.

On Saturday, April 11, participants will march from their respective neighborhoods and institutions toward and arrive at Harrison Park (18th Street & Wood Street) for a community-wide rally featuring speakers, prayers, testimonies, and cultural performances.

This mobilization is rooted in faith and a moral call to action, affirming God’s commandment to “love thy neighbor.” The event will uplift and stand in solidarity with mixed-status families—households where members have different immigration statuses—who are living in fear due to increased immigration enforcement actions, including raids, detentions, and deportations that threaten to separate loved ones.

“We are called by our faith and our shared humanity to stand together,” said local faith leaders. “The ‘Love Thy Neighbor’ March is a public witness of our commitment to protect families, especially those most vulnerable. We will not remain silent while our neighbors live in fear. Our faith calls us to stand in the gap with courage, love, and justice.”

The march and rally will highlight the urgent need to:

Support and protect mixed-status families from separation
Defend immigrant families from unjust detention and deportation
Uphold the civil and human rights of all residents
Stand against policies that harm families and communities
Build a city rooted in compassion, justice, and dignity
Participants are encouraged to bring signs, banners, and messages of solidarity. This event is peaceful, family-friendly, and open to all who believe in justice, faith, and the power of community.

🟥 LIVING 🇲🇽 – TAX REALITY: BASICS

Not scary. Not optional. Often misunderstood.

🟦 OPENING

Most tax confusion comes from mixing concepts.
Immigration status is not the same as tax residency.

🟧 THE BIG PICTURE

Mexico taxes based on tax residency, not passport.

Key inputs include:
• where your main home is
• where your life is centered
• what income sources you have

🟩 REALITY CHECK

Common myths:
• “No citizenship, no taxes”
• “Foreign income doesn’t count”

Reality:
• obligations can trigger quietly
• cleanup later is harder

🟪 WHAT THIS MEANS PRACTICALLY

Good strategy is clarity early:
• know when tax residency may apply
• keep income sources organized
• don’t wait until you’re already stressed
