🧡 June 5–7 is Gun Violence Awareness Weekend. 🧡

Every year, communities across the country come together to honor the lives impacted by gun violence, support survivors, and advocate for safer communities. At the Jaylen Legacy Foundation, we stand in remembrance, in solidarity, and in action.

Next weekend, we encourage all of our supporters to participate in a local Wear Orange event and join the movement to raise awareness about the impact of gun violence. Whether you attend an event, wear orange, share a story, or start a conversation, your voice matters.

Together, we can honor lives lost, support those affected, and work toward a future where every community is safer.

Last week, three of our board members had the incredible opportunity to volunteer at the Chicago Black College Expo hosted at Chicago State University 🎓✨

They connected with students, supported future college applicants, and helped create an environment full of opportunity, motivation, and success. From on-the-spot acceptances to scholarship opportunities, the impact of this event was truly powerful.

We’re proud to be part of spaces like this that uplift and empower the next generation of leaders. Thank you to National College Resources Foundation for continuing to make a difference!

Congratulations, Leland! Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed—wishing you continued success on your journey. 👏🏾✨

Happy Black History Month ✊🏾🖤
Black History Month is a time to honor the strength, resilience, creativity, and contributions of Black people throughout history. What began in 1926 as Negro History Week, founded by historian Carter G. Woodson, later became Black History Month to ensure Black stories, voices, and achievements are recognized—not just remembered, but celebrated.

This month (and every month), we reflect on the past, uplift the present, and continue working toward a future rooted in equity, healing, and empowerment.

On October 21, 2023, the Sonic Boom of the South honored Jaylen in the most beautiful way during their halftime performance—spelling his name across the field and playing “O-o-h Child” by The Five Stairsteps. Our hearts were full in that moment. The family sends our deepest thanks to Jackson State University and the Sonic Boom for such a powerful and unforgettable tribute. 💙✨
