Your final reader for Miss Spoken: CORN SWEAT is Alina Serban.
Alina Serban is a Romanian-American storyteller, documentary filmmaker, and adventurer. In her previous life, what she calls her 38 years of living in Romania, she was a television journalist with a passion for public speaking, event planning, and social responsibility projects. Love made her move all the way to the U.S., where she had to reinvent herself. Alina now lives in Chicago and supports affordable housing projects, writes and performs true stories, and produces short documentaries. She burns for creative outlets, traveling the world, and is obsessed with her 8 year old boy Daniel. Alina Serban told stories at The Second City, The Moth, First Person Live, 80 Minutes Around the World, This Much is True, Let Me Tell You, The People Tree, Illinois Humanities, and more. As of December 2025, Alina is a Moth StorySlam winner.

Elizabeth Gomez is a Korean Puerto Rican q***r middle-aged lady, writer, storyteller, podcaster, and founder of The Windy City Rollers, Chicago’s first all-female roller derby league. She's loud, she's proud, and she's still trying to figure out if she's started menopause yet because her hair still looks great.

Next up in CORN SWEAT, we have Douglass! Stephanie is a host of The Moth, a Moth GrandSLAM Champion, cofounder of the NYC’s the TEAM, and was head writer for OLN's "Outside Magazine's Ultimate Top Ten.” She has served as a non-profit leader redirecting resources to historically disenfranchised communities for over a decade, currently with Revolution Workshop.
Stephanie pioneered the first single-farm CSA completely grown and distributed within the city of Chicago.
She is the co-founder of Cyahafi Blooms, a training collective in Uganda, and wrote a humorous organic farming series for the Organic Agronomy Training Service.
Stephanie also hosts and produces Story Club North Side and the Englewood Storytelling Open Mic. Her original solo show, “LIVE! N**E! COMPLICATED! GRIEF!” won Best Solo Performer at the National Women’s Theatre Festival.

Hey! It’s time to meet your readers for CORN SWEAT! First up, we have Molly Cavanaugh. Molly is a writer/performer who got her start in Chicago touring with The Second City, performing at iO and the Annoyance Theatres. She co-hosted a morning radio show, The Big Party Show, in Omaha, Nebraska for 20 years working out of her home studio. Her radio partner and Molly made the show a podcast that people can stream on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube – basically everywhere you can get a podcast. Molly currently works at WGN 720AM as a morning news producer and fill-in anchor. She’s currently working on a book of short stories based on life lived through her ridiculously large coat collection.
