The waitlist for artist-preferred affordable housing at 400 Lake Shore Drive opens on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 11 AM CT.

Only 127 artist-preference apartments are available, and we expect significant interest from Chicago's creative community. Applications are sorted by preference, then by the time and day you apply. Being early is the best way to heighten your chances of securing this incredible housing opportunity.

Prepare for the waitlist opening now:

1. Mark your calendar
2. You will be asked to complete your basic information such as contact information, household size and gross income.
3. Confirm who your head of household/primary applicant is now — they're the one who selects preferences at the time of application.
4. On Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 11AM, be ready to apply online at
