This past weekend I had the honor of facilitating my Soul Excavation workshop at the 100 Women Healing Retreat in Lake Geneva, hosted through the Justice Advisory Council.
First, I want to extend a sincere thank you to Kim Davis and her incredible team for creating a space where women could gather, reflect, and support one another in such a meaningful way.
Over the course of the retreat, I had the opportunity to sit with some of the most powerful, resilient, honest, and beautiful women I have met in a long time. Women who showed up with open hearts, who were willing to look inward, and who allowed themselves to be seen in ways that many of us rarely experience in everyday life.
During the Soul Excavation sessions, we talked about the identities many women carry in order to survive β€” the Anchor, the Peacekeeper, the Emotional Caretaker, the Hyper-Independent, the Overfunctioner, the β€œI’m Fine” woman, and the Quiet Holder.
What unfolded in those rooms was nothing short of powerful.
There were tears.
There were moments of deep recognition.
There were women realizing for the first time that the ways they learned to survive were not flaws β€” they were adaptations.
Some women stayed after the sessions just to continue the conversation. Others shared how much insight they gained about themselves and the roles they have carried for years.
Outside the workshop rooms, I also witnessed something equally beautiful β€” women connecting across generations, supporting one another, laughing together, encouraging each other, and building bonds that extended beyond the sessions themselves.
Spaces like this remind us just how powerful it is when women are given the opportunity to gather, reflect, and heal together.
I’m deeply grateful to have been part of this experience and to represent Trauma Informed Care Advocates (T-I-C) in a room filled with such strength and authenticity.
Thank you again to Kim Davis, the Justice Advisory Council, Cook County Government , and the 100 Women Healing community for creating such an impactful experience.
The work continues.
