In 1992 at the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis, Dance for Life began as a grassroots effort by members of Chicago’s dance community to support artists facing urgent health challenges. What started as a collective response rooted in care and solidarity quickly grew into one of the city’s most anticipated annual dance events.

For more than three decades, Dance for Life has brought together companies, choreographers, and performers from across Chicago to share the stage in a powerful celebration of artistry and community. Through ticket sales and partnerships, Dance for Life has continued to provide critical health and wellness support for dance industry professionals.

Today, Dance for Life stands as both a performance and a promise. It is a testament to the strength, resilience, and generosity of Chicago’s dance community.
