American Burn Association

American Burn Association Since its inception, the Association has been dedicated to stimulating and supporting burn-related research, education, care, rehabilitation and prevention.

The American Burn Association was founded in 1967, following a series of national annual burn seminars sponsored by leading institutions in the field of burn care treatment. To advance these goals, the ABA sponsors a variety of educational programs, fellowships and grants for research, travel and teaching. ABA membership is open to physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists,

educators, health administrators, researchers, social workers, nutritionists, burn survivors and others with a demonstrated interest in burns. As a major international, interdisciplinary specialty society, ABA membership totals over 2,800 - representing virtually every segment of burn care, research, rehabilitation, prevention and teaching. The ABA is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization, incorporated in the State of Illinois, and organized for scientific and educational purposes. It is governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of 14 members who are elected by the general membership of the ABA.
