THIS IS A MUST READ!!! :)
Jewish Inspiration in 60 Seconds or Less, by Rabbi Moshe Katz
Hi,
Hope you’re having a great day.
Sometimes a Torah Minute has been about sports.
Like baseball, football and hockey.
But this is a first.
It’s about golf.
(Full disclosure?
I don’t know that much about it.)
… Phil Mickelson is one of the greatest golfers ever.
A member of the World Golf Hall of Fame.
He’s won three of golf’s four major tournaments.
But the fourth?
The U.S. Open?
Twenty six unsuccessful attempts!
(Came in second six times, a record.)
And he’s not getting younger!
So you can imagine how much winning would mean to him.
Probably more than anything in the world…
Almost!
Because Phil pulled out of this year’s U.S. Open.
He had a conflict.
His daughter’s high school graduation was at the same time.
And she was giving the commencement address.
He couldn’t be at both.
And he opted to be with his daughter at that special time in her life.
…June is graduation month.
And Mazal Tov if someone close to you is graduating this year!
There have been commencement speeches given by famous people.
The one given the most publicity?
Probably Mark Zuckerberg at Harvard.
(I don’t have the “newest” Windows and my spell check wanted to know…
Who’s Mark Zuckerberg!)
But here’s my vote for the most impactful graduation speech.
Phil Mickelson!
You don’t remember hearing that he delivered a commencement address?
He didn’t.
But he did!
Because without saying a word?
He said it best.
While others may have been inspiring?
“Don’t stop dreaming! Go out there and change the world!”?
Steve’s message was the most profound.
Because he told every graduate in the world.
(And he told each of us!)
”No matter where life takes you. No matter what your dream is?
Never lose sight of one thing.
Priorities!”
And that…
Was a hole in one!
