Thank you so much to the all the folks who've donated so far! We are nearly half way to our goal of $5,000! Winter is coming fast and the elements don't care if we have a grant coming next year. If you haven't already, please consider donating to save this historical, architectural, and (soon-to-be) cultural gem in North Beverly.

Big News! The Pike House has been awarded $1.5 million is state funding to help save this historic building!

We are deeply grateful to Senator Willie Preston, Commissioner Stanley Moore, The Forest Preserves of Cook County, Alderman Matt O'Shea, Senator Bill Cunningham, the State of Illinois, all of our Pike House Foundation and Beverly Area Arts Alliance board members and everyone who has supported us. Please join us this Saturday morning if you can before Art Walk at the Pike House as we celebrate this incredible gift and opportunity for our community and say, THANK YOU!

As it says in the article, our goal for the Pike House Community Cultural Center is to be a great partner to the community, to celebrate interesting artists near and far, and to share a sense of history, ecology, connection and place.

We have some big news that we will be sharing about the Pike House in the next few days, but first a little background:

The Eugene S. Pike House, a Tudor Revival-style home designed by noted architect HH Waterman in 1894, sits vacant and in need of repair at the edge of the Dan Ryan Woods, adjacent to Cosme Park, the Major Taylor Bike Trail and the 91st Street Metra train station. Known as Watchman’s Residence, the historic home on Chicago’s far South Side, was listed on Landmark Illinois’s list of Most Endangered Historic Places in 2022. Now local organizations, historians, activists, artists and community members are coming together to preserve and restore the home’s unique grandeur and activate the space with arts and culture as The Pike House Community Cultural Center. The Eugene S. Pike House Foundation and the Beverly Area Arts Alliance (the Alliance) are working with the Forest Preserve District of Cook County (FPDCC) in the fundraising, planning, and renovation process, which is expected to unfold in phases over the next 2-3 years and is supported by local and state historic preservation agencies, as well as community stakeholders.
