ATLAS Fellows

ATLAS Fellows ATLAS empowers the finance industry to employ and retain a new generation of leaders

ATLAS Fellows transforms the finance sector by opening doors for brilliant and under-resourced young people to access life changing careers. All students should be able to pursue careers in finance regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or family background. Yet breaking into the competitive finance industry often requires industry knowledge and experience, professional networks, and confi

dence. If a student does not have access to the necessary resources or social capital, it is challenging—if not impossible—to pursue a professional path in finance. ATLAS is the only nonprofit organization focused on identifying talent at an early entry point and developing young people for a career in financial services. By making careers in the financial industry accessible to talented young adults from a variety of diverse and under-resourced backgrounds, ATLAS is changing the face of finance.

Hugo Nunez didn't expect ATLAS to feel like home. It did.

"After living with ATLAS Fellows in New York, I realized that being part of a community of ambitious people from similar backgrounds, all striving toward the same goals, offered a level of support I had never experienced before. I no longer felt isolated and gained a community that would both understand my struggles and celebrate my successes."

We look forward to celebrating Hugo, and the whole ATLAS community, at the ATLAS Graduation Gala on May 6 at The Museum of Modern Art.

Jonathon Han came to ATLAS expecting professional connections. He found something harder to put on a resume.

"I expected ATLAS to be a place to grow my professional network, but it was much more than that. I've built meaningful relationships and formed connections with my peers that have had a lasting impact on me."

His time at Investcorp deepened that foundation. "Everyone at Investcorp was very committed to my summer experience, where I gained rare exposure to the lifecycle of transactions from sourcing investment opportunities to managing their portfolio companies.”

Thank you to Investcorp for sponsoring the Graduation Gala. We look forward to celebrating Jonathon and the Class of 2026 in May.

During his first summer with ATLAS Jamal Matthew sat down with Scott Schroeder, co-founding partner of Balyasny Asset Management.

"I remember sitting there listening and having a quiet moment where I thought, 'I can't believe I'm actually in this room right now.' As someone who was just beginning to explore finance, coming from a family of carpenters and farmers, it was surreal to realize that I was learning directly from someone who helped build one of the industry's leading hedge funds."

We look forward to celebrating Jamal at the ATLAS Graduation Gala on May 6 at The Museum of Modern Art. Thank you to Balyasny for its generous sponsorship of the event.

Andy Ochoa's internship put him at the front of a conference room, presenting to associates and MDs. He kept his composure.
"It wasn't until the Q&A when I felt relief as my answers were followed by compliments and head nods which to me signaled both growth and understanding of what I was working on throughout those last two months."
We look forward to celebrating Andy at the ATLAS Graduation Gala.

What is ATLAS Fellow Natalia Ostapowicz most proud of?

"Honestly, I'm most proud of the fact that I'm graduating from an Ivy League school with a job lined up in finance. If you had asked me four years ago whether I thought I would be in this position, I probably would have assumed you were joking. My parents didn't go to college and don't work in finance, so this path wasn't something I grew up seeing or fully understanding. I didn't have a built-in roadmap or network to lean on — so I had to figure everything out step by step, which is why it feels so much more rewarding to be where I am today."

We're honored to celebrate Natalia at the ATLAS Graduation Gala on May 6 at The Museum of Modern Art. ✨

Mentorship is at the heart of the ATLAS model. For Yoselyn Waterhouse, it showed up in the simplest way.

"My mentor Pete Codinha, from Balyasny, consistently reached out to me throughout all of my college summers and years to check in on how my semesters and internships were going. He always made sure to share how proud he was of me and give me advice. It will always stick with me because his emails always made me feel like I mattered and that someone out there was looking to see me succeed."

We look forward to celebrating Yoselyn at the Class of 2026 Fellows at the the ATLAS Graduation Gala in May. 🎓

Walk into any room full of ambitious, high-achieving people and competition tends to follow. A***n Ruparel found something different at ATLAS.

"One of the things that surprised me most about ATLAS is how collaborative and generous the community truly is. In environments filled with ambitious people, you might expect competition, but instead, I found peers and even underclassmen who were eager to help, whether that meant mock interviews, sharing resources, or offering honest feedback. That culture of mutual support is what makes ATLAS unique."

We look forward to celebrating A***n and the rest of the Class of 2026 Fellows at our Graduation Gala in May.

Some moments stay with you.

When Cortez Davis opened the email telling him he'd been selected as an ATLAS Fellow, his whole family was there:

"When I opened up the email, my entire family had been there including my mother and sister visiting from Arkansas and we all ran around our house screaming. This is because where I was born, a opportunity like this had been surreal."
Cortez is graduating with a full-time offer at Fifth Third, a firm he pursued with no existing connections, driven entirely by determination.

We are proud to celebrate Cortez and every graduating Fellow who made it to this moment. 💫

For first-generation students, the barriers to breaking into finance aren't just financial — they're personal and linguistic, too.

Chenxin Wang, a 2022 ATLAS Fellow, found something at Balyasny that changed all of that.

"My mentors during both summer internships at Balyasny supported me deeply — reviewing my work word by word and slide by slide. English is my second language, and I sometimes struggled with confidence, but they went above and beyond to help me communicate clearly and confidently. Their mentorship shaped how I present and advocate for my ideas today."

This is what ATLAS is built for: not just opening doors, but making sure Fellows are ready to walk through them.
We can't wait to celebrate Chenxin and the rest of the Class of 2026 at our Graduation Gala on May 6 at The Museum of Modern Art. We hope you'll join us. 🎓
