Homeless Shelter: The purpose of the program is not only to provide temporary
housing to those who live on the streets, but to offer men and women seeking to
elevate themselves to self sufficiency by providing a safe and stable place. We plan to accommodate 50-60 individuals for three months period, i.e. 200-240
participants annually.If a participant cannot find employment and a place to live w
ithin
90 days, they will be able to file for an extension. The soup kitchen
will provide meals to all the residents of the homeless shelter, as well as some former
residents that have reapplied for the free meals. Case Management:
The program will be serving all registered residents of the homeless shelter will
be started once the first participant is admitted. The case managers will help the
residents find employment and housing and avail themselves of appropriate assistance
programs, such as unemployment benefits, G.I. Bill, food vouchers, Medicaid/
Medicare, etc. They will also help the residents with preparing a life action plan,
and with school registration, if needed. Alcohol and Drug Counselor:
This program will help those residents that are currently struggling with drug
or alcohol addiction remain sober so that they are able to obtain and sustain
employment. The program will also be open to individuals outside of the homeless
shelter.
