People for Community Recovery

People for Community Recovery People for Community Recovery (PCR) is a non-profit environmental organization.

People for Community Recovery (PCR) was founded in June 1979 and was incorporated on October 25, 1982. It's mission, to press for serious and long overdue repair work in Altgeld Gardens, a Chicago Housing Authority development located on the South Side of Chicago. PCR soon turned its attention to the more serious problems of urban environmental pollution when it was discovered that the Southeast side of Chicago had the highest incidence of cancer of any area in the city.

I was once a thought process, and then I became a reality. With my big arms I invited you all to say at my place and I gave you access to recreational activities to keep the children active. I was provided school buildings for you the children to gain an education and become successful. As like humans we eventually we get old and need help to stay afloat. They want to tear my arm apart but I won’t let them they tell me that it’s infected, I tell him that I am fine and I just need a dose of medicine to rehab my arm. I want to hug more residents that are able to move here one day – I am Altgeld Gardens

Everyone!!!!
We are in a state of emergency! We need your help today! Time is ticking we must stop CHA from tearing down 650 units here in the Gardens and instead rehab them so we can decrease the waiting list of 40,000 people around Chicago looking to be housed! These are families that need help and we are here to help them! This can't be done alone we need your help now your voice matters! Help us with providing families a place to stay!

FB and AG Family: I need to know people who are currently on CHA waiting list, people who have relocation contracts which is the right to return, people who have Section 8 and lost their certificates and lived in public housing prior to Oct 1, 1999 and especially people who used to lived in AG and move with their Sect 8 and want to come back. My organization (PCR) is working to save 638 vacant apartments from being demolished and we need to show that actual number of people who fit these criteria. I can be reached via cell at 773.971.5028 or call PCR at 773.840.4618. Thanks! Let Keep and Protect Altgeld from Bulldozer!
