SAAPRI is a non-profit, non-partisan organization established in 2001 with the mission to serve South Asian Americans by using research to formulate equitable and socially responsible policy recommendations. As we reflect on the September 11th attacks, we also have a responsibility to remember what followed. In the days, months, and years after the attacks, South Asian communities faced racism, hate, discrimination, and violence.

We must work not only to remember the past, but to learn from it, speak about it, and create a future where hate does not turn neighbors against each other.

25 years later, we still remember. Never forget the lives lost or the heroes who ran toward danger.

Please join us in welcoming Samyuktha Iyer to the SAAPRI family as our new Programs & Operations Manager!

In her previous roles, Samyuktha focused on academic research, community engagement, and policy advocacy in Michigan. She worked on issues such as the impacts of hydroelectric dams in the Global South, the adoption of climate-friendly actions in households, the use of communication tools to encourage water conservation, and climate resilience in Cambodia. At SAAPRI, she hopes to contribute her data analysis, research, and program management skills to the team. She graduated from Michigan State University with a B.S. in Economics and from the University of Chicago with an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences with a concentration on Political Science.

Every SAAPRI team member becomes an important part of our family, and we are thrilled to welcome Samyuktha to the journey with us. We can’t wait for our community and partners to get to know her and all that she will bring to our team in the months ahead.
