I've shared with many of my classmates the amazing opportunities I've been afforded this summer via an emergency medicine pilot program focused on increasing minority representation in the specialty.

Many of you all know that one of my more major reasons for attending medical school is to increase minority representation by bringing a "blueprint," of sorts, back to the hood. I hope to bridge the gap between "I want to be a doctor" and "I am a doctor," for aspiring physicians from impoverished areas; a struggle I'm quite familiar with due to lack of exposure and mentorship until after my college career.

Please take a moment to check out our page as we continue to battle for existence. Though in its infancy, this program has provided invaluable experiences that have helped me and colleagues from St. Louis, Kansas, NY and Puerto Rico excel in our 2nd year of medical school (whaddup yall?!). I'm excited to see and contribute to what this program can produce for those that follow.
