Commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America Theme: “That Our Flag Was Still There”
As we commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the United States of America, the Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAA) joins the nation in celebrating a remarkable journey of freedom, resilience, service, and unity. Inspired by the enduring words from The Star-Spangled Banner, “that our flag was still there”, we reflect on the strength and perseverance that have carried this nation through generations of challenges and triumphs.
For 250 years, the American flag has stood as a symbol of hope, opportunity, and the resolute spirit of a people committed to building a better future. Its presence reminds us that even in times of uncertainty, courage, compassion, and shared purpose prevail.
Nurses embody these same ideals every day. Across hospitals, clinics, schools, research institutions, long-term care facilities, and communities, nurses stand at the forefront of care, advocacy, innovation, and healing. Through public health crises, natural disasters, and moments of national need, nurses have remained steadfast, providing comfort, preserving dignity, and protecting the health and well-being of all people.
As Filipino American nurses, we are especially proud of our community’s longstanding contributions to the American healthcare system.
Generations of Filipino nurses have answered the call to serve, enriching the profession through clinical excellence, leadership, education, research, and compassionate care. Our story is woven into the fabric of America’s history and reflects the values of hard work, sacrifice, and service that have strengthened both our profession and our nation.
As we celebrate America’s semiquincentennial, let us honor those who came before us, recognize those who serve today, and inspire the next generation of nurses to continue advancing health, equity, and human dignity. May we remain united in our commitment to caring for others and strengthening the communities we proudly serve.
On behalf of the Philippine Nurses Association of America, I extend our heartfelt congratulations to all our fellow Americans on this historic milestone. May the spirit represented by our nation’s flag continue to inspire hope, resilience, and service for generations to come.
