The Lights On Collective is happy to support Destiny Alliances Youth Conference 2026: Strength in Mindset (Philippians 4:13) on Saturday, June 13th.

Our Parent Resource Room session introduces parents and caregivers to community resources and practical tools that support youth wellness, confidence, purpose, and future readiness. Through our 4E Parent Formula — Educate, Empower, Engage, and Encourage — participants will reflect on what young people wish adults understood, explore ways to connect before crisis, and receive resource information to help youth and families access support, opportunity, and encouragement.

The Lights On Collective is happy to host Juneteenth Bingo at the Lyons Township Juneteenth Event: Rooted in Hope.

We are honored to join other presenters and community voices, including CommUNITY Diversity Group, Attorney Patrick Dankwa John, Pastor John F. Harrell, Artist Antonia Ruppert, and Momma Kemba, for an evening of reflection, connection, learning, and celebration.

How Are We Showing Up for Our Youth?

Generation X won Best Bow Tie.
Generation Alpha won Best Hat.

The younger winner walked over and asked, “Excuse me, sir. Can I take a picture with you?”

The way he asked—and the honor he placed on that simple photo—made us pause and reflect.

We believe there is something innate in the next generation that wants to respect those who came before them.

They’re watching us.
Watching how we show up. Watching how we treat people. Watching how we carry ourselves.

A few of us visited Wharton Elementary School to help facilitate a Focus Group, which aimed to gather the students' opinions on potential developments at Argo Park. They had a lot of great insights to share! And, the students were particularly drawn to Shaun. They invited him over to their table and engaged him in a lively Q&A session, asking about his height, basketball abilities, and other random topics.

Elizabeth (Lizzy) is our 2026 female LOC Youth Light Award recipient, chosen for her heart and head and history of spreading love and light wherever she goes. Elizabeth received a $1000 prom support stipend from LOC as part of her award. Lizzy recently graduated from Chicago Christian High School in Palos, IL, and leaves for college this fall with the ultimate goal of becoming a lawyer. The world should get ready for Attorney Elizabeth Somuah!
