This is a sad reality for the US. In the time most of us use to scroll on FB to pass the time, people are overdosing at an alarming rate. In fact, someone overdoses about every 5 minutes.
That equates to almost 300 people overdosing.. a day!
Substance Use Disorder (SUD) is ravaging families and dimming the light of so many incredible people.
So, what can we all do to help the epidemic plaguing our country (especially destroying lives of our youth)?
•Break the stigma with us! Too many people are losing their lives. Start the conversation. Speak up. Volunteer with organizations like ours who get out into communities to meet people affected by SUD/Mental Health struggles.
•Carry Narcan! As a nonprofit organization, we are able to train people what an opioid overdose looks like and how to use Narcan to reverse it when caught in time. We proudly offer free training with a free kit to anyone who asks. Be a HERO, save a life.
•Educate! Learn about the growing drug trends and how our youth are using substances freely without fully understanding the dangers and potential consequences. (This includes over-the-counter medications).
•Donate! HERO is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization. No amount is too small and we are so grateful to those who support our mission. All donations are turned back into providing our programs at no cost to those who seek our help. (All donations are tax deductible)
•Say their name! With so many people losing their lives, help honor their memory and warm their loved ones hearts by keeping their memory alive. Many of us have an empty seat at our table this holiday season. Our hearts are heavy, but we remember and honor missed loved ones daily and in the work we do.
