A heartfelt thank you to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) for hosting our Trauma and Su***de Psychoeducation Seminar. It was incredibly meaningful to see so many agencies come together to prioritize the mental health and well-being of those who serve.

A special thank you to First Alarm Foundation and Carolyn Acosta for sponsoring this important event. We could not do this work without the support of organizations and individuals who recognize that proactive mental health education is essential to building stronger, healthier, and more resilient first responders.

The leadership at MDFR is demonstrating what it means to take a proactive approach to the well-being of their members by providing the space, resources, and support necessary to address trauma and su***de psychoeducation.

To all of my friends and co-workers concerned about my family and I in Colombia. We are safe! We are in Bogota where we got hit with a 6.8 magnitude earthquake this morning. Terrifying, but we are safe. We will be heading back home tomorrow. Pray for those that have been affected horribly and have lost everything.

For the last three years, it has truly been an honor to be part of creating a program that is the first of its kind. Together, with The Quell Foundation we have developed Lynn University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate program with a concentration in First Responder Care.

This program is a critical step forward for the first responder community—providing access to specialized, culturally competent mental health support when it’s needed most

And then, within a week, it’s back to business as usual. Until the next su***de.

Isn’t this the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results?
