FYI—There is a prescribed burn today in Horner Park.

It is difficult to give more than a day-of notice of prescribed burning activities. Burn typically takes place between 10:00am and 4:00pm. Permits are in place, and local responders and adjoining properties will be notified.

Prescribed burn management is utilized in Chicago Park District Natural Areas to achieve several objectives.

LIMITED SPACE: Free Openlands Tree Walk in Horner Park at 8am Tomorrow

If you are available this Thursday morning the HPAC Stewardship Committee in conjunction with Openlands is conducting a tree walk in Horner Park from 8:00 - 10:00 AM. It will be led by Jeff Brink, Senior City Forester and Certified Arborist. He recently conducted one of his popular walks in Graceland Cemetery and it was great – both educational and entertaining. If you want to know more about the extensive collection of trees in Horner, I highly recommend it (especially for fellow TreeKeeper).

Space is limited, so register soon if interested. There is no cost.

REGISTER HERE:

Join TK John F. at Horner Park for a tree walk around Horner Park. As fall approaches, the leaves are changing, so it will be a beautiful time to go on a tree walk. Please dress appropriately for the weather.
