This month, we are proud to spotlight LEARN Charter School Network! 📚

Since 2001, LEARN Charter School Network has been opening doors for kids across Chicago, North Chicago, and Waukegan, running a network of 11 tuition-free public elementary schools built on one simple belief: Every scholar is a college-bound scholar.

LEARN pairs academic rigor with real social-emotional support to achieve its mission of providing children with the academic foundation and ambition to earn a college degree.

We're proud to stand behind an organization that's proving what's possible when a school puts children first, from kindergarten all the way to a college degree.

We're proud to support ConTextos!

Since 2010, ConTextos Chicago has been harnessing the power of storytelling, literacy, and reflective dialogue to help individuals and communities heal, grow, and thrive. Through trauma-informed, healing-centered programs, ConTextos creates spaces where reading, writing, and personal narrative become tools for connection, resilience, and transformation.

Serving communities across Chicago, El Salvador, and beyond, ConTextos has reached more than 76,000 people, proving that every story has the power to inspire hope and strengthen communities.

We're proud to partner with an organization that reminds us that when people have the opportunity to tell their stories, they can shape brighter futures.

It's official: The 16th Street installation is complete! 🎉🖌️

This vibrant new addition to the street is part of Playful Learning Landscapes, a collaboration between the Chicago Children's Museum and local communities that transforms everyday spaces into opportunities for playful learning, for young children and caregivers alike.

Steans Family Foundation was proud to help fund this project, and we want to thank Paint the City for bringing the mural to life and supplying the paint and the craftsmanship that made this vision a reality.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making this mural celebration a success.

At Steans Family Foundation, we invest in youth and help provide opportunities that prepare them for the future — which is why we're proud to spotlight Celestial Ministries Association and their Summer Youth Employment Program.

This summer, CMA interns are gaining real-world experience while making a positive impact right here in North Lawndale. From leading drumline instruction to music theory lessons and collaborating with local churches to expose youth to new musical styles, high-energy dance classes, and even a recording studio initiative led by interns from SAE Institute Chicago — these young people are building confidence, creativity, and real career skills through music and community service.
We're proud to support programs like CMA's that prepare our youth for future careers while empowering them to give back to their own community.

Celebrating the “Missing Middle” Groundbreaking with this feature from Block Club Chicago!

Steans Family Foundation helped break ground on 27 new homes — nine three-flats rising on once-vacant lots along S. Drake and S. Trumbull in North Lawndale. This $6.5M project is part of the city's Missing Middle Infill Housing Initiative, turning empty land into real homeownership opportunities. SFF contributed over $2 million to make it happen.
