One Family Illinois 💙 (formerly SOS Children's Villages Illinois), founded over 30 years ago, is a non-profit organization that provides an individual licensed home in a supportive, community environment that marshals all the resources needed to help children in foster care heal and achieve their permanency goals. One Family Illinois celebrates a 90% high school graduation rate, compared to a nati

onal average of 56% for children in foster care. In 2023, One Family Illinois maintained Candid’s (formerly GuideStar) highest award, Platinum Seal of Transparency, and Charity Navigator’s Rating of Four-Stars.

Officer Friendlies! 🚓💙

The children at our Chicago Village on the South Side recently enjoyed a friendly visit from 6th District Police Officers.

The police vests were a bit oversized, and the handcuffs took some practice—but that didn’t stop the kids from showing off their impressive pushups! 💪

We’re grateful for this special opportunity and look forward to building a strong, positive partnership between our foster youth and local law enforcement.

We were proud to host the Smyth Kindergarten Ball once again at Roosevelt Square Village. Students, families, and teachers came together to dance the night away and celebrate in style.

From creating pinecone and peanut butter bird feeders as a young girl entering foster care in 2019 to returning years later to recreate that same memory at our recent Garden Party, Sara’s journey has come full circle 💚

Hosted by the education and enrichment team, this special moment reminded us how meaningful simple acts of creativity, care, and connection can be. Now, as Sara prepares to graduate high school and begin pursuing her dream of earning a criminal justice degree, we couldn’t be more proud of the resilient, compassionate young woman she has become.

For 12 years, foster mom Ms. Gabby has cared for children, from newborns to teenagers, at our Roosevelt Square Village. She puts her whole heart into the role, and says her greatest reward is when the grown children come back to visit her.

Happy Mother's Day to Moms and Maternal Figures 🌷

A mother's love is one of life's greatest gifts. This well-known sentiment rings especially true when we reflect on how deeply meaningful it is to have moms and mother figures in our lives. Foster moms may fill a temporary role for children in foster care, but they give their whole hearts. 💞

Our Garden Party at Chicago Village was a day full of hands-on learning and creativity! Youth rolled up their sleeves to plant seeds for future veggies and flowers, created bird feeders to welcome nature into our gardens, and enjoyed a special cooking demo highlighting delicious ways to use fresh harvested produce. 🥕🌻🐦

This event was made possible by generous support from The Nature Conservancy's Community Convening Fund.

Also, thank you to Star Farms and everyone who helped make this event such a meaningful and joy-filled experience for our youth! 💚
