My Gen develops after-school environmental education programs that empower our youth to take action to improve the environment, make our communities more sustainable and invest in the future of their own generation. My Gen’s goal is to empower our youth to take action to improve the environment, make our communities more sustainable and invest in the future of their generation. The Green Festival Challenge is a scalable environmental education program for high schools students modeled after competitive sports programs. Schools then compete against each other in activities that will increase the sustainability of their communities through recycling, energy efficiency, water conservation and more. My Gen hopes to apply the same GFC competitive structure to energy efficiency and water conservation in the future. Six schools and six Chicago area festivals are competing in the 2011 Green Festival Challenge.
