A good article on the Millionaire Giving Pledge and what the common person can do to give back to their community.

We’re being told it’s “hard” for billionaires to give away their wealth. But across this country, people with far less are giving more, building more, and holding communities together every single day. Something about that story doesn’t sit right.

Step Up For Mental Health recently had the opportunity to share our mission and services with seniors and community members at a Mental Health Fair in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood. In collaboration with our partner, EZRA Multi-Service Center, we highlighted our dedicated programs for seniors, including peer support and resource navigation.

Our intern, Moriah, also shared her experience as a Peer Support Facilitator on our Helpline Support team. It was an educational and engaging day for everyone involved.

The hospital's owner blamed the electronic medical record system for failing to bill for the hospital's work. The closure comes months after West Suburban's sister hospital, Weiss Memorial, shuttered in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood.

Every year, we select a word to define the year ahead. In 2026, that word is "Fortitude."

To us, fortitude is not just about surviving; it is about having the mental and emotional strength to face adversity with courage. This concept is particularly resonant when considering that 600,000 Black women are currently out of work and navigating immense challenges. While there is often a demand to remain strong and resilient, we believe that true mental and emotional strength also provides the license to be vulnerable.

As we develop our content and programs for 2026, this theme will be at the forefront of our efforts to support those navigating the years ahead. Stay tuned for more updates.
