Chicago Democrats Love their Veterans:

Effective July 21, 2025, the Veterans Assistance Commission of Cook County (VACCC) has expanded and enhanced its direct assistance programs to better meet the evolving needs of Cook County Veterans and their families.



These updates include:

Increased Rental/Mortgage Assistance from $1,400 to $2,000 to combat housing insecurity
Doubled Funeral/Burial Benefit from $1,500 to $3,000 to support dignified end-of-life arrangements
Expanded Food Assistance now offering two $100 Aldi gift cards for the Veteran and $100 per dependent
New Cell Phone/Land Line Bill Assistance offering up to $100 for past due bills, once every 12 months
New Internet Bill Assistance offering up to $100 for past due internet bills, once every 12 months, to ensure continued access to essential digital resources
Increased Hygiene Assistance Frequency from once annually to every 6 months, maintaining $100 value per eligible Veteran and qualifying dependents
