Thanks to everyone who came out to our summer grooming event yesterday and extra special thanks to all the volunteers who helped make another successful event! Thanks also to for joining us!!!

It’s always nice to spend the day with folks who love bunnies because unfortunately most days I am constantly reminded that the majority of the world sees them as disposable and not worthy of life.

Walter is still hanging in there but prognosis is very guarded.

Hey thanks to everyone who threw some dollars at us yesterday. VERY MUCH APPRECIATED! If you all could say a little prayer or send all the healing vibes for new guy Walter that would also be very cool. Good Sam Amy messaged us this morning about him when her brother spotted him in Skokie and Mahek went right over and scooped him. He’s in very very very poor shape. Underweight, lethargic and having congested respiratory sounds. But he’s nibbling a bit and his temperature is normal which are both positive signs. He’s received subcutaneous fluids to hydrate and get some electrolytes in him since it’s so disgusting outside and he is on antibiotics for the URI and we are crossing our fingers he rallies 🤞🏼

Hi friends! We desperately need to do a $5 Friday 😃😃😃

Donations are wayyyyyyy down from previous years which is understandable considering the state of the world but the rabbits don’t stop being expensive. In fact they’re more expensive than ever due to the exact same state of the world 🙃🙃

A year ago we were bringing in $1k-$2k per month from Facebook & Insta donations and last month we received $94. The month before around $300. We are also missing our biggest fundraiser of the year this month because some ugly people in the community made it their life’s mission to make my life difficult so I was moving myself and 30 rabbits during the time I normally would have been planning it.

So we are in a tough spot! We will get through it but we need your help! Any dollar is helpful at this point, they all add up!

Donations can be made here or

Zelle (Preferred): [email protected]
PayPal:
Venmo:

Direct to our vet accounts because that’s where most of our donations go anyway - (708) 758-2400 for Glenwood (630) 737-1281 for Ness

Photo of Crystal alive this morning for tax because she tried to die on me last night after her dental yesterday afternoon. She’s all good now after supportive care!

If you’re not in a position to donate, I totally understand! Please comment and share, that helps more than you realize!

One thing we really do encourage here at The Bunnyjackpot Foundation is adopting based on need rather than looks.

So many of our animals have been looking for forever homes for a little while and their need for companionship is much larger than the need for a new resident who might look a little more ‘traditionally cute’.

We do manage to push looks aside a lot of the time by practicing species-led bonding, meaning we let rabbits and piggies pick their own friends rather than focussing on one specific bun or pig.

It would be great to see more people adopting based on the needs of all of the animals involved and less on looks ❤️

People who only want one rabbit… seriously who wouldn’t want to see this in their house every day???

Rabbits THRIVE with companionship from other rabbits. Yes a solo rabbit can be happy for sure. But they can always be happier with a friend(or more!)

Yes, they’re cute, but don’t do this! Baby animals picked up by people think that they’re about to be eaten. In nature, most baby animals are never, ever picked up at all. When they are, it’s only by their own mothers. Even newborns, who may not be able to see what’s going on around them, can instinctively tell that something is very wrong when they’re picked up, and they instinctively believe that they are about to be predator food.

Stressed baby animals don’t always look stressed. Most will become very still and quiet, paralyzed by fear, and might even be mistaken for being comfortable. But this stress is serious for these delicate little ones. It can compromise their immune systems, impair their growth, or even cause their hearts to fail.

Baby animals are also very susceptible to the nastiness on human hands. We might think our hands are clean, but the germs we carry every day can be deadly for newborn baby animals, whose immune systems are still developing. (You wouldn’t want wild animals getting their germs on YOUR brand-new baby, would you?)

Please have respect for wild animals and give them space to raise their young freely and without fear. If you absolutely must pick up a baby animal (such as to bring it to a rehabilitator) please promptly put it somewhere warm, dark, and quiet and try to handle it as little as possible.
