Birth & Postpartum Doulas – Chicagoland Area
Are you passionate about supporting families during one of the most transformative times of their lives?
Soulful Doulas, an Illinois-Certified Doula Training Agency and community-based organization, is expanding our team!
We are currently seeking Birth Doulas and Postpartum Doulas to serve families throughout the Chicagoland area.
These are 1099 Independent Contractor positions — ideal for compassionate, reliable doulas looking to build experience, receive ongoing mentorship, and make an impact in maternal health.
🤰 Birth Doula Responsibilities
Provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, labor, and birth.
Conduct prenatal visits (birth planning, comfort measures, education).
Offer on-call availability beginning at 37 weeks until birth.
Support families during labor and delivery in hospitals, birth centers, or home birth settings.
Provide immediate postpartum support following birth.
Submit client documentation and progress notes per Soulful Doulas standards.
🤱 Postpartum Doula Responsibilities
Provide hands-on support to new parents during the postpartum period (typically 0–12 weeks).
Assist with newborn care, soothing techniques, and sleep education.
Support lactation and bottle-feeding per family preference.
Offer emotional support and education on postpartum recovery and mental wellness.
Light household support (meal prep, laundry, baby supplies organization).
Connect families with community resources as needed.
🩺 Qualifications
Must be Illinois Medicaid Certified Doula or in the final stages of certification.
Experience providing birth or postpartum support preferred, but mentoring is available.
Excellent communication, empathy, and professionalism.
Must have reliable transportation throughout the Chicagoland area.
CPR/First Aid certification (preferred).
