“The theme this year is, take the test and take the next step, which really gets to the heart of the importance of knowing your HIV status,” said Dr. Laura Cheever of the HIV/AIDS Bureau at the Health Resources and Services Administration. “You can protect your health, whether you test positive or negative.”

National HIV Testing Day is on Tuesday, and the Health Resources and Services Administration says one in eight people in the U.S. don’t know that they have HIV.

Children living with HIV are less likely to achieve sustained viral load suppression if their caregivers are younger, if their caregivers are not virally suppressed or if the children are on a protease inhibitor-based regimen, the recent INTEREST 2023 conference in Maputo, Mozambique, heard.
