Well-known for its electrifying precision-drilling and wide range of dance routines, the Drill Team has performed at such venues as Walt Disney World, Soldier Field, the Kentucky Derby, and the Indy 500, and is a perennial favorite at Chicago’s annual Bud Billiken Parade. The group’s mission extends far beyond entertainment, however. First and foremost, the organization is a prevention program dev

oted to helping young people in some of Chicago’s most dangerous neighborhoods steer clear of gangs, drugs, and violence while developing a strong work ethic, self-confidence, and a respect for themselves and others.

Yesterday South Shore Drill Team held its 6th Annual Kids Winter Coat Drive. Sponsored by Habitat for Humanity Chicago branch. We served over over 400 families, who received a bag of groceries, brand new coats and toys. Thanks to our partners Champs Male Mentoring, Bryan Leach Foundation, 211 Metro Chicago, Operation Warm, Privilege Restaurant & Bar, Sam Binion, Tops and Bottoms, Bobby. Special thank you to SSDT Alumni’s Quiana L. Cain-Turner for decor and Terrell Allen for photography. SSDT staff and parents volunteers, Ja Shon for the P*e Wees performance and Gary Comer Youth Center team. Thank you to our special guest Chicago Mayor's Office for coming to help past out coats and toys and most importantly taking the time to acknowledge each and every person in the building. This past Sunday, South Shore Drill Team members partnered with New Life Covenant Church for their annual Trunk or Treat event! 🎃🍬
Everyone had a blast handing out candy to the kids — and Pastor John F. Hannah even showed off some color guard moves! Looks like we might have a new member in the making!
