National Gun Violence Memorial

National Gun Violence Memorial Americans killed by guns. Real people, not just statistics. Each has a story. Updated every day. This is a non-profit project.

Human beings, not just statistics

On an average day, 108 people are shot dead in the United States. This is a shocking statistic, but it is easy to forget that these are human beings, not just numbers. The National Gun Violence Memorial was created in December of 2015 to humanize the problem by showing victims' faces and telling their stories. It is now a community effort led by several dedicated

volunteers and with contributions from thousands of visitors. You can donate or learn about volunteering on the website.

McKenzie Renee Rideau

https://gunmemorial.org/2025/05/20/mckenzie-rideau

McKenzie, as she was known to many, tator to some, boots to others, was born to Heather Taylor (Clemission Johnson Sr.) and Michael Rideau in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on July 8, 2008, where she was raised.

McKenzie attended Lake Charles College Prep, where she played volleyball and was a flag girl. She was about to enter her senior year, and that’s all she could talk about. She was to graduate in the spring of 2026.

Mckenzie enjoyed talking, singing, playing volleyball, cooking (where she was vegan), listening to music (Tupac, Rod Wave & Chris Brown), and having fun with her friends. She had a big imagination where she planned to travel, be famous, and live in McKenzie’s world, just wanting to be free. McKenzie was a sweet and outspoken person. What she gave is what you got. She never held her tongue for anything or anyone, but was also very respectful.

She always made sure she looked the part, whether it was the edges, lashes, hair, or anything. As she would say, slayed. McKenzie accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by Rev Lee Wilson. She was a member of Riverside Baptist church under the leadership of pastor Lee Wilson, where she was known for her singing (Beautiful Day). She was preceded in death by her little brother, Prince Johnson, and Grandmother Lana Fulwood.

Remaining to cherish her memories are her 5 Grandparents, Peggy Williams, Gregory Taylor Sr., Joe & Mary Rideau, and Earl Fulwood. Her 4 sisters, Reaghan, Emani, Alora and Princess. Her 5 brothers King, Clemission Jr, Saint, Kamrren, and Jaylin. One niece, Kylie. Her 5 aunties Janell, Dora (JJ), Zelphia (Troy), Toya, and Ann. Her 4 uncles Joe Jr, Gregory Jr (Sharonda), Ankoma, and Zakiyy. Her Godparents Terry Wilson Sr & Kayla Head. Her cousins Anya, A’myrah, Amani, Jordan, Amari, Jamari, Chance, Emeri, Kamille, and Kamryn with a host of many other cousins and many many friends.

McKenzie lost her life through senseless gun violence on May 20, 2025. She was only 16

Derambez Morgan
https://gunmemorial.org/2020/11/20/derambez-deante-morgan

My name is Melice Morgan Jones. I am the Mother of Derambez Morgan, my firstborn and only son, who was only 26 years old when he was murdered by a senseless act of Gun Violence. On November 20, 2020, at work, by a co-worker in Iman, SC; for NO reason at all. My son never knew when he left home on the morning of November 20, 2020, that he would not return to his family and home again in his physical body. ❤️❤️

My son Derambez Morgan did not survive the Gun Violence and died that night at the Spartanburg Memorial Hospital. This Senseless act of Gun Violence has brought me, his mother, his family & friends so much Heartbreak, Debilitating Pain, & Emptiness. Over the last almost 5 years of our lives. Mariano "Moe"Salazar

https://gunmemorial.org/2024/06/30/mariano-moe-salazar

Mariano Salazar, affectionately known as "Moe" by his family and friends, was born on January 8, 2007. He grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and attended Ace Leadership High School, a public charter school, where he earned certificates in welding, electric, and woodshop. He was just a few credits shy of graduation when he was killed in a senseless drive-by shooting at an Albuquerque parking garage on June 30, 2024. Albuquerque police have arrested two teenagers in the case, one just last month. He was just 17. His mother recently accepted his high school diploma, awarded posthumously, on his behalf.

Moe was the second of seven brothers and sisters, ranging in age from 3 to 20. Maclovio, who is 20; Mackenzie, 17; Meadow, 14; Richard, 10; Bentley, 9; and his baby sister, Gigi, 3, who still looks for him to this day. And his puppy, Scarface 1 year old. They loved him, and he loved them, and each of them still misses him.

Moe was employed at Amadeo's Pizza and enjoyed fixing cars, among many other activities. He lived life to the fullest, his family says, pursuing music, sports, rapping, dancing, hunting, camping -- anything you can think of, they say. He enjoyed attending concerts with his family and loved fishing with family and friends. He especially enjoyed traveling for winter and summer vacations, to destinations in the Southwest such as El Paso, Las Vegas, Colorado, and Phoenix.

Moe was a great help to his grandmother, fixing anything and everything for her. He was her "Lil sidekick," the family says, and the loss of Mariano has left her devastated.

"He was just a respectful little boy," said his mother, Joyce Vargas, in a KOB4 interview. "He enjoyed smiling. If people were having a bad day or just sad, he would be the one trying to make jokes, make everybody happy, make everybody laugh."

His obituary says that "Mariano's mission was to make everyone smile and encourage them to be positive." He was "very outgoing, silly, and caring for those around him...although Mariano was with us for only a short time, his impact was huge, and he will be greatly missed."

Jared Scroggins

https://gunmemorial.org/2017/03/05/jared-scroggins

Jared was born on Feb 8th, 1994, and he was our baby. He has a sister, Nikki, who is now 38, and a brother, Caleb, 37. Ours was a close-knit family, and still is. Jared also has a Niece, Peyton, 11, a Niece Kiera, 10, and has two nephews whom he never got to meet. The first was named after him. Jared Eugene. He is 2 and a 1-year-old nephew we call Jojo.

Jared was known for his vibrant personality and love for life. He loved driving anything with four wheels, ATV’s and his dirt bike. He loved to go fast and wasn’t afraid of anything. He also loved hunting and fishing and would spend a lot of time at the creek below our house catching trout.

He built trusses when he and the love of his life Kaelee, lived in Chattaroy. When they moved back to Cowiche, he worked in different warehouses cleaning.

He also had a dog named Jake, whom he dearly loved. Wherever you saw Jared, you would see Jake. He was a chocolate lab who was 17. He was put down 3 months before Jared passed.

Jared's pride and joy was his son, Gunnar, who is now 10. Gunner turned 2 years old the day after his father was murdered, and although he doesn’t remember his father, we talk about him all the time.

Jared had many, many friends, even ones I had never met. He was kind and would give anyone the shirt off his back if they needed it more. A few days before he was murdered, he said,” Mom, I need a new belt.” I ask him, “What happened to yours?". Jared said, “I gave it to a friend who needed one”.

His funeral was so large that there was standing room only, and people were still outside who couldn’t get in. It was amazing to see how many people loved Jared.

Jared was shot and killed in what appeared to be a random act of violence when he was only 23 and should now be 31.

Alana Gamboa

https://gunmemorial.org/2023/07/04/alana-gamboa

Alana Gamboa, was from Riverside, California. But, at the age of 12, she moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, with her mom and 2 younger siblings

She was a free spirit who loved animals. She was always willing to go the extra mile to help an animal find its way back home. And she loved her own too; she had seven cats, a dog, and two guinea pigs.

And she loved helping the homeless.

Alana worked hard, and at only 19, she was an entrepreneur with two jobs. She even had her own business making semi-precious bracelets.

Alana was the best kid who never cussed in front of me, and always helped with her younger siblings. Alana loved her fast food, especially her stuffed crust pizza. Alana left behind so many beautiful memories. She was the light of our life! Her smile will forever live on in her family and friends. Alana will never be forgotten.

We lost Alana on the morning of July 4, 2023, at the age of 19 years old to teen gun violence in Albuquerque, New Mexico🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🥺🩵🥺🥺🥺

Daniel “Dan” Sanders

https://gunmemorial.org/2024/09/22/daniel-sanders

Daniel “Dan” Sanders was the kind of person you don’t forget.

Raised in Queensbury, NY, Dan was the son of Jane and Bob Sanders and the heartbeat of a family that loved him deeply. From a young age, it was clear he had a spark—he excelled in both athletics and art, winning awards and earning respect for his natural talent and grit.

At 18, he launched his first business as an airbrush artist, and that same entrepreneurial spirit fueled his career in construction. Through DCS Builder's, he built with passion and precision—leaving his mark on places like the Ronald McDonald House in Albany, multiple Cumberland Farms locations, and even Michael Jordan’s golf course. (Yes, MJ personally gifted him a set of golf clubs for a job done exceptionally well.)

But Dan’s life was never just about the work. He was an adventurer at heart—an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, a biker who craved the open road, and a dancer who never missed a chance to twirl his wife, Michelle. Whether painting, tattooing, traveling, or blasting music through the speakers, Dan was all in. Always.

He built more than homes—he built relationships. He was a fiercely devoted husband of 33 years, a proud father to Daniel Jr. and Cara, and the kind of grandpa who showed up with energy and love for his grandchildren. His circle of friends spanned the country, but his family was his foundation.

Dan lived boldly and loved hard. He brought color, movement, and meaning to everything he touched.

On September 22, 2024—his daughter’s birthday—Dan’s life was stolen in an act of violence that shattered our world.

That day, everything changed. A day that should have been filled with celebration became one of unimaginable grief. We lost more than a brother, a son, a husband, a father. We lost safety. We lost peace. We lost the person who held so much together.

There are no words for the ache we carry, the rage we feel, or the hole he’s left behind. But there is love. There is memory. And there is fire in our fight for justice.

Dan deserves to be here. He deserves to be building, riding, laughing, living. And since he can’t—we will speak for him. We will honor him. We will never stop saying his name.

Though his life was tragically cut short by an act of gun violence, we refuse to let that be the end of the story. His light is still here. In the laughter we remember. In the values we carry. In the fight for justice we won’t stop pursuing.

Chandler Adam Innarelli

https://gunmemorial.org/2020/02/19/chandler-innarelli

In loving memory of Chandler Adam Innarelli, son, father and brother to all.

Born on June 24, 1997, in Manchester, New Hampshire, Chandler was full of life from the very start. He had a laugh that lifted spirits and a sense of humor that made him the heart of any room. Always quick with a one-liner and flashing that signature mischievous grin, he had a way of bringing joy wherever he went.

Chandler was the son of Amy Innarelli Houle and Frederick Scheffer, the cherished little brother of Ava Loren, stepson of Michael Houle, and most proudly, the devoted father of Jahmel. Chandler and Ava Loren shared a bond full of love and loyalty. They fought fiercely, but they loved one another even more fiercely. Their connection ran deep, rooted in a lifetime of shared laughter, challenges, and unwavering support.

Becoming a dad meant everything to Chandler. From the moment Jahmel was born, he stepped into fatherhood with pride, joy, and purpose.

He had a deep love for basketball, a serious passion for sneakers, and a natural gift with kids. Little ones clung to him like Velcro, and he never minded. He gave them his full attention and heart. He proudly wore the title of favorite cousin with the littles on both sides of the family.

Chandler was a beautiful paradox. He was tough and tender at the same time, loud and hilarious on the outside but deeply thoughtful underneath. He was a quiet champion for underdogs. Even when he didn’t have much, he always found a way to help others. He never needed recognition. Chandler wasn’t one to boast or post. Many of the kind things he did, even for complete strangers, only came to light after he was gone. He felt deeply and kept his compassion close to his chest, but it showed in everything he did.

On February 19, 2020, Chandler’s life was taken in a senseless act of violence. In the wake of that heartbreak, his mom Amy became a fierce advocate for justice and healing. She created the Justice for Chandler page and founded Chandler’s Angels Initiative, or CAI (his monogram) a nonprofit supporting at-risk youth and continuing the compassion Chandler lived by.

Chandler’s spirit lives on in every laugh, every act of kindness, and every life he touched. His absence is a quiet echo in all we do, a gentle ache carried through each day. Though the world feels dimmer without him, his love remains, steady and everlasting.🧡
